brownnova
Let’s go out! Wife’s modern: no charge on account of coming back from Devon in it yesterday. Volvo: seized brake caliper… the reason we took the MG to Devon Saab: still borked So the Pontiac then, ever reliable… but the battery is dead. Odd… I’ve left it over a month before now with no issues. Battery jump pack? Dead. No way of getting jump leads to it. 2CV? Blocked in by the dead Pontiac. Looks like we’re staying in then kids! Rust Collector
I dropped my Shogun Sport in for MOT about 40 minutes ago. It has done 3k miles since the last MOT. It has also sat in a corner at the stables for a few* months. I am anxiously clicking refresh, waiting to see how much pain I'm in for this year. Cord Fourteener
So Wifey's Peugeot 307 has done a French and FTP on her way home from work. She's not sick in a nearby town awaiting recovery. Apparently all the lights have come on and the engine won't run properly.
Stanky
I've noticed more cars recently driving around with their headlights on in daytime, but with the front indicators on on both sides permanently lit. The first time i saw this was on a BMW and i dismissed it as being some kind of electrical issue, but since then I have seen probabaly about ten different cars, all running with both front orange indicators permanently lit. Myriad makes and models, BMW, VW, Peugeot, Ford at the very least. Is this a scene thing, or some sort of weird Fareham phenomenon and the owners/drivers are completely oblivious? Also, I have noticed several obviously chavved up cars recently with some kind of treatment to the windscreen and front headlights making them sort of tinted but in a colour change film, sort of like late 90s/00s flip paint TVRs and things, but on the glass. Apparetly its legal, looks weird but there you go. Is this another new fad elsewhere in the country too? So far I;ve seen it on some mid-00s Subaru Impreza and a heavily modified Civic type-r. Stanky
Maybe its that, I was sure I'd seen equivalent cars without orange side marker lights, but maybe its just that the owners have fitted orange rather than white bulbs?
Split_Pin
The film on the lights is chameleon tint. Even when applied correctly it looks horrific. I 'viewed' an MGZT with it applied to the rear lights, badly wrinkled as well. I'm not sure about the windscreen though. Stanky

There is an option on carly coding called 'us spec sidelights' or something along those lights, which will illuminate the indicator bulbs albeit dimly - not my cuppa, but also see a lot of scene kids running round with them near me too. Aye, that's it. Carista or similar apps let's you change the setup on vag stuff to allow you to mess with this sort of thing.
Dick Longbridge
Similar here in Kernow. Plenty of young bucks trying to be 'Murican. Same crew seem to like running cars with turbots with dump valves which make the car sound like it's having some sort of major asthma attack. Real cool*. So apparently it's called oil slick for the front screen. As for the indicator being on I I think it's a yoof thing I have seen a few, they flash off if you know what I mean. Cord Fourteener
So further to Wifey's FTP last night, The oil leak it has had for ever has corroded the fan belt and it pinged off as she was arriving to work. Last night before driving she saw this And was told by the security who allegedly used to be a mechanic that it was nothing but debris caught on her axle. She made it an hour out of her one-and-a-quarter hour commute home before getting stranded on a busy roundabout. Managed to kangaroo the car off the roundabout with the very unhappy car into a car park and Autoaid came to tow. So an unscheduled day off today and an easy fix, but we are going to have to sort the oil leak! JakeT
barefoot
I keep meaning to mention the retired brain surgeon who lives in the next village. I suspect that he used to experiment on his first wife who was absolutely crackers. He owns a Bentley Continental Coupé, a Maserati Quattroporte and a Piaggio Ape which he is generally seen pottering about in. I was amongst a long procession of cars following him the other day, when he pulled over to let everyone past by hiding the Ape behind a couple of cones that had been left in the road. It is incredibly slow & looks dreadfully fragile. Yoss and HillmanImp
wuvvum
There was a lad near me who used to run around in a 50cc Ape. It was a fucking liability on the roads around here - it even used to hold up agricultural machinery. He eventually traded it in for an Aixam, which he is currently driving (illegally) on L plates. andyberg
Fiat pandas, quality cars. Just driven over 300 miles of Welsh roads and motorway in my wife's recent purchases. Fumbler
I've just been told the bearing has been replaced and the towbar removed on the Volvo. I went posh and bought an SKF bearing It's a heavy old thing. The mechanics reckon the clunk when turning the wheel when stationary is a "top link". Hopefully I can find this out when I'm back in the country next weekend. Sunny Jim, AnnoyingPentium, Lacquer Peel and 1 other

Stevebrookman
Mot passed again for my Range Rover. Had it nearly 16 years now. Calipers and backplates need cleaning up-quite rusty. The strut top mounts can rust through on these cars, worth checking while you're in about the wheel bearing and can see the top of the strut from the inside.
