I thought you still had yours?

Yea its still going strong, 212k on it now, manifolds warped so it sounds like a cat being shagged when its cold, but it keeps plodding along, I know it sounds perverse but another would come in handy!

Looked plenty warm enough for the occupants of the LT I passed going North near Hemel, pretty sure it was @mat_the_catwith dog standing on the dash!

That was probably us, on the way back from France. Assuming it was a green and white one around 6-7pm? The dog likes to sit in the middle seat and keep an eye on me.

It was pretty warm TBH, the AC is only enough to knock 10 or so degrees off so still high 20s inside.

Adrian Flux just quoted me £2851.47 to insure the Porsche!! And that's with 5 years no-claims! 😂😂

Think I'll be sticking to Lancaster

Are we going to see massive insurance price rises just because everything else is going through the roof, they think they can get away with it?

My cat's vet insurance has nearly doubled.

Went out to the car boot sale on Sunday morning looking for a strimmer.

Day took an unexpected turn when @cort16(a VERY bad man) sent me a BMW Z4 with test til March and a fucked roof for £1150.

Fucks sakes.

Eventually got the seller and headed over for a look, of course I bought it. Pretty horrible knocking from the front end, one key and it's done 188k with zero history. I offered £950 and it was accepted.

Closest thing I got to a pez shot;

Blissfully, the AC is ice cold. Apart from the clonk from the front it drives fine. Ordered a set of drop links as a hopeful first step, but while I'm doing them I'll give everything a good pry anyway. Just seemed worth having them on hand, they fit the E46 if not.

I managed to get the roof up and down manually first of all, then with some foutering got it going up on the buttons, but the pump seems too weak to pull it down itself. Will pull the pump out and do some diagnostics. Worst case a new one is about £120.

Although bought in Scotland, looking at the MOT history online it has spent most of its life in the South East of England. Result. At first inspection it looks to be free of any serious corrosion although I'll not get ahead of myself on that front.

Gave it a very quick wash and took it a spin last night. It certainly doesn't look like a £950 car.

It leaves me with a headache, I have far, far too much scrap lying about. Current fleet in order of length of service;

RX300

LS400

Kangoo Van

320D Touring

206 GTi

Z4

At least three too many. RX is going to be listed for sale very shortly with short test. I'll probably put it on here at a healthy discount on the off chance anyone is interested.

I learned all my car pushing techniques from @320touring.😂

It’s worth tagging @Jamieas he’s had loads of these and may recognise the problem with the roof .

Just parked in a public car park this morning, out of 20 or so cars, mine is the oldest in there.

Now that may not be a surprise with Autoshite, but we're talking about an 06 reg Focus, which might as well be brand new!! And it's the oldest in a car park! :(

It's 16 years old, it's nowhere near brand new, you are in the minority, mine is also the oldest in my public carpark.

Well yeah, that's true. But 15-20 year old cars to me are more like MK4 Escorts and suchlike, not a MK2 Focus!

The MK1 Mondeo and MK1 Focus are coming up 30 and 25 years old respectively, which seems mad, as they're "new" to me as well

The classic status doesn't register to me for anything after the 70's, and that's 50 years now. Cars have just aged very well 🤷‍♂️

Mine's the oldest one practically anywhere. The oldest I've seen when on a M/way was an s plate Toyota (cockroach) Corolla.

Just had an interview for a fully remote non-technical role, it sounded alright it did, struggled a bit in the interview to be honest. Then I asked the salary range. It was double my current salary. That'll be why I found the interview difficult then!

I'm probably not going to get it.

Keep applying as it is all experience.

I tend to try and get at least one interview a year, whether I want a job or not. Its really good practice and its rare when you're in a role - especially if you've been in the role for 12 months plus - to actually need to be on point for an hour plus. Certainly I end up fielding the same questions day in day out and it all goes onto autopilot. Actually having to listen to questions you're being asked, and think of the best answer on the spot for an hour straight, including relevant examples is something that doesn't happen very often.

You need to keep practicing to stay on top of your game, no experience is ever wasted.

"experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted"

Probably in a karmic payoff for sending Davehedgehog that z4 my air con packed in on the hottest day of the year yesterday . Condenser is new, seems  to have gas in it  and checked / swapped out fuses but it’s not kicking the compressor in. Either compressor is duff or some gas has escaped so it’s now below the level . The good news is these don’t bring in fresh air when the air con is off they just blow roasting hot air .

Second this. Very common. There’s an uprated relay you can buy direct from Honda, it’s around £40 or so if I remember. Take the relay out and if you shake it and it rattles you’ve got your answer.

How .... Do you have a way to find where a car was Motted 🤔🤔

Go onto the gov.uk MOT history checker, put in reg and look up as normal.

You'll see a link next to each MOT saying "view test location", you'll need the reference number from your V5.

Pop that in and it reveals the address of each test and you can also view the actual certificate.

Had to take my car back to the dealers for some warrant/recall work- failed engine mount, faulty keyfob and a software update, on a 2016 plate car.

This is my courtesy car for the next few days...

Feel like I should grow a manbun and get a job cutting hair, but at least it isn't pink!

It's supposedly a mild hybrid, but I've not seen anything other than a flashing light when braking. Reckons I'm getting 48mpg round the doors though.

I was hoping to find test centre location for vehicles that I don't own, especially for the only other Mitsubishi Sigma estate that has been spotted by an Autoshiter 😕

They don't allow that any more, test stations were made public for a short period about 5 years ago on the gov website but they promptly removed it and now require the V5 number

My former Rover 216 R8 is going to be rejoining the fold tomorrow, I've agreed to buy it back from the mate I sold it to in January. For the same price, despite him having done a couple of fixes and improvements! :)
