Mine has a bit of bubbling on the rear but it's not too bad yet will have to inspect. Mine has electric windows and a rev counter installed. Does this mean it was a slightly higher spec, or were they all electric windows?

C1 Vibe (like mine) and 107 Urban Lite had manual windows (and no rev counter).  C1 Rhythm had both electric windows and rev counter but 107 Urban just electric windows, although as noted above it's easy to add the rev counter and many have done so.

Verve was the 107 to have I reckon.  Electric windows, rev counter, alloy wheels, remote central locking, air con, several acronyms I can't remember and the metallic paint options at no extra cost.

As someone used to small cars like Metros etc that felt like a hell of a lot of kit on a small car at the time!

Worth noting that I bought mine on the strength of work having a trio of C1s as pool cars, and even in that role they turned out to be pretty much unkillable save for the well documented clutch issues on early cars.

Much like the original, but for different reasons, I can't imagine a single place in the world other than Russia that would touch one of those. Not even for ironic, 'Autoshite'reasons.

I remember my dad teling me a tale from the 70's - a brand new barrelled past him.

On the pavement.

'Cos the brakes had failed.

Followed a rather fresh looking Anglebox on the way home. I noticed it was very smokey and smelled of lead, but the smoke wasn't coming from the exhaust pipe at all, in fact nothing was coming out of it- it was coming from the right side of the engine bay! I hope the chap has a look at his exhaust manifold when he gets home.

Replacing the wings on the base spec escort, found a big o hole in the drivers floor and the back third of the drivers side sill needs doing.

Replacement wings line up pretty much spot on other than the vertical due to some excess material. Going to save the reach arches almost in the entirety as the material is solid just all bent up, nothing a dolly and some elbow grease wont fix.

Found out why I'm getting abysmal fuel economy (saw 13mpg this morning). Second lambda sensor appears to have went nuts according to the diagnostic shite I was using, reporting it to be running lean and the ECU has been compensating for it. Ordered a replacement up (£40 quid, fucking hell) and am planning to be going under the car to fit it whenever it arrives. Should be interesting.

I really hope for your sake that the sensor is the only cause of it's fuckery! My cockup slightly, the reading was rich not lean, but the principal is the same because it's overcompensating it so much it's making it rich rather than in the middle (i.e 14.7:1 air:fuel)

I went and got a second opinion as well before splashing the £40 on the sensor and got the same confirmation. So I reckon that's exactly what it is.

I'm quite a fan of the Kenwood KMM-506DAB.

Looks pretty inoffensive when off.

Plus has infinitely adjustable display illumination colour available so you can perfectly match it to the car.  In the case of my Caddy a hyper-saturated green with just the slightest hint of yellow.

IMG_20220428_160447.thumb.jpg.0d3232e7d1eaa44d4ce60171073daa20.jpg

Buttons and display can be adjusted independently too.  When I had it in the S123 I had the buttons red and display warm white which matched the heater controls above.

I had a similar unit, but with CD, a Kenwood KDC-BT640U. It's now in the caravan instead since I fitted the cassette system in my Fabia.

Mine didn't have a rev counter (does now) but does have electric windows and remote central locking. It also has these black wheel trims which I thought were after market but apparently they are genuine pug.

I paid £700 at a mates body shop to have a full respray as the body was starting to look a little bit rough after ten years on the street. I've also upgraded the four speakers which improved the sound loads.

It is bright red not pink!

That's the first car that stereo has ever been fitted in, it's been in storage since the insurance company provided it after my dad's 98 almera was broken into for the second time.

The tape deck works fine, but I don't know why the radio didn't work.  The previous stereo didn't work for the radio either, and I even replaced the aerial to see if that was it.

Was it pink originally, or did you choose to have to resprayed in that colour? ;)

How old is it. You must really love it to have had the respray done.

I picked up a 9000 Carlson cheap as the seller thought the head gasket had gone

Turned out to be a split rad spitting coolant at just the right spot on the block to dry off and leave a stain..

Usually the post-cat lambda is used for catalytic converter efficiency checking, rather than fuelling. That being said, a few engine setups do use it to tweak the maps - most notably (iirc) BMWs.

Sure your pre-cat lambda is behaving correctly? Could be causing the post cat readings to be bonkers too.

£40 seems cheap. Is it genuine Bosch?

Generic random brand sensors are shit and not worth the money.

The pre-cat lambda wasn't behaving, frayed wiring, bit of insulating tape and it's stopped the car from cutting out and/or trying to kill me again.

It's a genuine new OEM/VW one from eBay that was recommended by a guy on Briskoda. It was up for £45 but I pinged the seller an offer of £40. :)

Unfortunately I couldn’t get the radio or tape deck to make sound even though the beeps were definitely coming through the speakers, looks like it’s had some water damage to the back of the unit, hopefully that’s not happened whilst fitted in the car!

I’m not sure there’s owt wrong with the aerial though as the old blaupunkt picked up a station as soon as I plugged it in, it just wouldn’t stay powered but that’s a problem with the unit itself rather than the car.
