lovely...

when i frequented VVOC they loved the supertourings, and holy grails of the st200's and rare red ones

Sadly, the interior in this one has been had off (by a previous owner, years ago) and replaced with fairly basic model seats. A GSi interior or half-leathers from an SRi would probably improve it. The body work is quite shit too, sadly.

We are on a tractor buying trip today

And we're home. I'm quite excited as this is my first encounter with a vehicle built and developed under communism and the first impression is good. This is a 1976 Zetor 2511 which I think was Zetor's smallest model in the 1970s it has a 1.6 liter 2 cylinder diesel engine with 25 horse power and was built in Czechoslovakia.  And it's going to be used in my dad's company.

MPs here in the UK have literally LOST THEIR JOBS looking for stuff like this on the internet.

Nice work, is it a trick of the camera or does it have a green 'modesty' curtain for safety on the rear of the roof/cab?

The green in the picture is one as in the picture below, is unsure what it is called in English so not part of the tractor. We were quite lucky with this one as it has few hours and good history. Older Zetors are also getting difficult to find here as the demand abroad for these is high and this means that most Zetors end up on export unfortunately.

Something like a garden umbrella or parasol. Either way for sticking in the hole of a garden table and sitting under it eating barbecue and sipping a tipple.

And I use it as a shade when I work outside.

I did my first cambelt change on a Meriva outside on the road in the drizzle under the parasol 😂

Was a bit grim but I've seen tales of worse conditions on here so I accepted it at the time. Car ran fine even with slightly damp timing components 👍 (I rinsed it all down with brake cleaner just before putting the cover back on iirc)

I have a huge soft spot for the old 2511,as it was the first mechanical device I ever piloted.......and crashed🤣

Do hope the crash was not serious? And this is fun to hear who owned the tractor? Have read that Zetor sold well in Ireland at times.

Not serious,it was an old well used tractor at this stage on my cousins farm,it had no battery.

I was 9 or 10 years old and elected to be the towee to get it started behind a MF35 and a new Holland bailer.

I was given a rudimentary lesson in how to be tow started and we were off.

Tactor started and I ran into the bailer, bent the rear chute and put a gash in the Zetors already battered tin work before I managed to bring it to a halt after dragging the bailer sideways. 🤣

The old thing was scrapped many years ago after the engine filled with water and bent a conrod.

They were extremely popular here, still see them at agricultural shows, some look better than new.

I would like to own a 2511 at some stage.

Thanks for sharing I like such stories but a little sad that the tractor got such a fate.

We have looked more on this tractor today and just like it better and better are a lot of smart details and a lot to like. The PTO system for example is far more advanced than almost all western competitors and that was one of the main reasons why he bought this tractor.

Not the most confident tower, ok going forwards, shit at reversing.  But where's the fun in paying someone else to do it*? Trailer hire and a number plate (they wouldn't let me make one with cardboard) was £70, obvs I found I had a legit spare plate after I'd bought the new one. Anyhow, went surprisingly easily, albeit for maybe 10 miles in total. Some daft cow tried to COME AT ME, BRO in a Clio but soon realised she was fucked as the parked cars were on her side of the road. Anyhow, even managed to reverse it (unloaded) 3 times without too much hassle and get it back in one piece....

A mate of mine said VOSA told his dad's uncle's first wife that towing weights and all that bollocks don't matter, as long as you have cheap flashing lights on the roof of your van, and they are forward facing ones (but facing the back) with the white lights gone over with red masking tape.

*I tried, but my M8 was too busy.

2 job interviews today. First one over in 20 minutes, went ok but they completely failed to mention on the application that it was a fully remote role. :|

Second one went on for 50 minutes and seemed to go pretty well. It's a sidestep, and a full time office role, but the perks are better.

A chap I know has had a succession of Zetor tractors (generally a bit larger / newer than the one above mind) and he swears by them.  He's a bit of a tractor nut, he also has a Fastrac (which he drove back from North Lincs to east Norfolk) and an MB Trac fitted with Unimog diffs which will do 50mph.

I went for a drive in the Rover 75 earlier.  Sounds and feels like a tractor after doing 500 miles in the Jag... :???:

The 160bhp remap definitely makes it better to drive though.  If I can find a sensibly priced pair of tyres for it (i.e. not £80 for a pair of part worn Roadstones) and get the driver's window working it can go back to daily duties.  It still needs a pollen filter mind - it's rather manky and the one I ordered off eBay bears absolutely no resemblance (which seems to be an increasingly common issue with eBay purchases lately).

He sounds like an interesting person and my type of person. And it is often the case with Zetor that those who own them swear by them.

That bonnet and the unidentified seat are both from a Riva SLX/2107.
