I helped my dad and washed his 2009 Toyota Hiace van today. And washing the underside of this is just as exciting every year on how much rust comes off and this was the result this year.

And these were just the big pieces the little ones have fallen through. We do what we can to try to prevent this from rusting but it is not easy as the steel this is made of and the original paint is bad.

This still has to be one of the best tools I've ever bought.

Not something I use every day, but it's a bloody life saver when it does come out.

I'd just spent several minutes hanging off a breaker bar trying to get the steering wheel nut off in the Caddy.  That just span it straight off as though it was finger tight.  Ideal solution to wheel nuts done up by fast fit type tyre outfits too.

Even though I understand the physics behind how it works it never ceases to be impressive to see the results.

That same thing happened to me. I bought a red mk2 Carlton on a B plate. 1.8. Lovely car, loads of history, drove great. Even the first owner had kept a diary of every time he fueled it up, noted the mileage and MPG etc etc. I sold it to another “enthusiast” who sold it to someone in the manga club. It then reappeared on eBay parked in a field with long grass growing round it. Such a shame indeed.

this is what it looked like when I sold it. Unfortunately there’s no pictures of its demise.

That is a such a shame, dad had same one on A plate new, in dark blue. Was a great car and I love them.

Car swaparoo time.

MGB needs at least a oil change service and grease up. I'm getting quite desperate to start on the Midget too. Went for a peek earlier when picking the MGB up. I started poking more paint blisters and filler off. Also noticed a few things missing like the hard top rear brackets and passenger seat angle arm. Really wasn't the best value purchase I've made in a while..

While it fitted into the garage, I had to wind the window down to be able to slither out of it. Those rubber door guards come in handy for times like this!

Uploading and looking at this picture does make me think I really do have too many vehicles. There are still three missing from this photo 😬

The Tuesday night weekly meets at Mavericks Wales have resumed! The first couple were a bit boy racer, but the sun was out this week!

There was a meet there on Drive it Day too, so @Bren you might have seen cars from there  on the A548 as Mavericks is on that road near the big ship.

Niiiice! These have become tempting lately…. But a lot are advertised when they’re broken.

There are a lot of broken ones around, especially the diesel V6s (like wot this is).  This one does have some issues but it's a fairly tidy giffer-owned example with decent history and sensible wheels etc, mileage is sensible at 140K and it's got plenty of test - it's probably the best one which has come up locally-ish within my budget.

The Audis driverside window was working intermittently. It would cut out after a few minutes and then come back to life if I left it for another few. I ruled out the motor and runners because when it was working it worked great.

I popped the switch pack off and one of the plugs had partially fallen out.

Pins adjusted for a snug fit and window working again. Then the passenger window decided to go on strike! Its very squeaky and I think its the thermal cut out due to overload. With the engine running and a bit more umph  to the motor it does work. Some greasing of something somewhere needed.

I then headed over to my parents to clean out my mum's 66 plate Corsa. They usually change it every 5 to 7 years so this one is going up for sale.

It was very dusty and muddy inside but under that it was in great condition. Used by never abused.

The before pictures don't look that bad but it had lots of dust and earth everywhere as my mum has an allotment (muddy potatoes thrown in the boot - they're worth it though!) and she also does community gardening. The boot was howling as you can imagine.

Its only got 17000 miles on it so will be a nice car for someone.

It will be in a week or so!

I have tried to convince my parents to keep it as I'm not comfortable that they'll find a better one (unless they wait 4 years or so for a brand new car) and given the demand for 2nd hand cars just now, I hope the dealer doesn't try and diddle them with something unsaleable like a Jeep or such like.

The new Corsa isny bad. My Gran never started driving till the late 90s and has lived off nothing but automatic Corsas since. She said the spec of the 70-reg PSA meddled SRI isn't as good as her last GM SRI (a 66-plate) though.
