Why oh why did I poke the rust on the 205?

There really is no point carefully trying to patch this. Out it comes.

New metal on the rear section.

And a new boot floor.

There goes another day!

One of the first bits of welding I ever did was there in the back of my mates 205 gti. It really is a horrible bit to repair isn't it.

Had the last two weeks off for various reasons. Kept occupied by going to various places. Like Watchet and Dunster

Went to a car meet this evening. Felt a bit guilty that I went in the Boxster, but there was four other 986's that went too. We all had the same friggin alloys too. Far too many Binis there too. Mrs SiC was in tow, so didn't spend too long as 20mins was enough for her to be bored.

Food was okay but at just over tenner a portion, expensive.

Then to round this evening off, I filled up. Ended up spending over £110 just this evening FFS.

After the Audi, the thing for fixing ciggy lighter bulbs continued.

And then I found out Mercedes seems to deliberately design the lighter bulb holders to break.

One "new" 12V socket salvaged from a wonderful blue C180 with blue interior later, and another bulb swap, it's all working now

A car from childhood is for sale. I own a bit of art from its creator, and have always dreamed of it - it's why the Spitfire dream finish is full on 1970s metalflake glory.

I didn't realise it even still existed.

Celestial, created by Ian Etheridge.

Price on application. I will not have the price, nor any dream of having the price, but wow. That car is why I read Street Machine as much as The Eagle...

Lordy...Supreme is £1.799 a litre here!

With the petrol stations loyalty card, it's a further 2p/l off those prices you see there. Down the road in Shepton Mallet, Tesco unleaded is the same price as that super unleaded.

I really did wish the Boxster could take regular right now though!

That's pretty cheap, its about £1.64 my way for E10 unleaded, premium being about £1.77-1.84 depending on where you go

Lots of places without diesel, don't know if thats a widespread thing

Seems like it was last for sale in 2019 for £26,500, which in fairness if I had £26,500 I would happily hand over like a shot.

2012 RetroRides thread where I was trying to remember it revealed it was 1986 when I saw it, at Doncaster.

And here's the painting by Ian Etheridge that I've had ever since seeing it. Can't find any reference to more of these paintings being about, but there must have been many surely.

I have heard this but I've not seen many diesel pumps around here with out of order signs on though. Thankfully down to only a single devil fuel vehicle now.

It's probably for the best that it doesn't become widespread news, we all know what happened last time!

My local (~20 mile radius, Sussex area) FB groups are going mad over it, lots of panic about an apparent lack of diesel locally. All of my 'fleet' are petrol, and the stations I go to have no signs up either, but have seen a fair few without diesel.

I saw one I passed had a sign up saying "no derv" which I thought was amusing, didn't realize the general public call it derv any more :D

That's more due to Social Media than fact, at least round here. I don't think I've seen any queues or shortages this week, though prices are edging up with u/l around £1.70 and dizzle £1.80

BX is back at Triple A to get the CV boot sorted. It's a bit messy

PXL_20220422_111422464.thumb.jpg.1fc8c475508ef543936db97c6e34955d.jpgPXL_20220422_111536402.thumb.jpg.2c7c152a2125dc7e839457d41815c634.jpgPXL_20220422_111541325.thumb.jpg.23ce3817f629c031bca4f99287c7c73e.jpg

Unfortunately, this particular car uses AX driveshafts which require dismantling the driveshaft to then replace the problem boot, so a stretchy boot it is. According to them PSA used 3 different types without much warning and more or less at the same time, so I had a 1 in 3 chance of getting the right part.
