BP and Shell are dirty price gouging bastards.

My nearest shell is 161.9 petrol and 176.4 diesel,

My second nearest (about 2 miles further) is 178.0 petrol and 194.9 diesel 🤔

So give or take 20p difference /L

Complete madness, and neither are anywhere near a motorway nor any sort of service station!

Yep, we've got that here.  There are a Shell and BP literally on the opposite sides of the road from each other and they had a difference of about 15p per litre on petrol and 20 on diesel during the week.  Haven't been past in the last couple of days.

On Tuesday I passed a BP selling diesel at 179.9. Supermarkets pretty much everywhere  were selling it for 151.9.

As it all comes from the same refinery/suppliers it much just be blatant profiteering, no matter what they say, when the stations are so close together.

It's been going on for months since the nonsense last autumn which pushed prices up, they never came back down

Someone's pockets have been lined with gold among all this...

That's complete madness, surely they can't be selling any if there are cheaper alternatives a stone's throw away

Brand loyalty. Some people will only use shell or Esso or any of the other biggies because they deem it to be the best* petrol and they have always used that brand 🤷

I must admit, completely illogically, I tend to 'prefer' Shell. I don't know why, and fully realize its all the same bar a few additives!

However in the case I mentioned both stations with a 20p difference were shell!

Get that bought now! The back story alone will add to its value. Wont be many left like this. That bootlid version rather than full hatch is a new one to me. Happy to chip a few quid towards a crowdfund if need be.

I'd estimate the value at £6k for insurance purposes. And £4k if you actually wanted to sell it. There's likely to be international interest.

Likely the person that buys it will modify it slightly. Add cross 14 inch alloys and better brakes. (Mk3 GSi brakes will fit under a 14 inch wheel)

It'll be down to whatever price the garage had to pay when they bought the fuel

Once the older/cheaper garage has restocked they'll soon adjust they're prices

Or maybe they look at the market rate and think. Fuckit, let's put the price up now whilst we are selling stuff we bought at a cheaper price.

Two bits of car good news yesterday…

Firstly, after stumbling across a thread on a Saab forum describing the exact issue with my 9000 (having looked previously and not found anything) I worked out that the aircon clutch is what had seized. So simply disconnecting the aircon would mean the car will run fine… now this is rather simple so I’m not quite sure why I hadn’t worked that out before!

So (once I had charged the battery) would it work?

Of course it would. First time and everything!

Gave it a little test run, and decided when I popped to the garage later I would book it an MoT…

Why was I at the garage?

Holy shit! I had one of those once in metallic pooh brown. I lost my storage and so dumped it in a pub car park.

If you don't want it, it would be worth helping hook the chap up with a specialist auction house. One owner from new, fantastic condition and fascinating backstory with photographic evidence. It would do well, I'm sure.

There must be another story with the car being mega early spec yet registered on a Y plate. These were all on a very W plate weren't they?

I thought it was quite late for a early spec, that's probably why it was given away in a competition, it may have sat around for a while and perhaps couldn't sell it?

I haven't posted about it before, it's never been on the market, I have a friends who interested but I'm still debating it myself but it would have to replace the Dolomite

My Granvia had a fail to proceed the other day,I suspected it was a blocked filter although the filter was a genuine one and looked fairly new.

So I bunged a new Bosch one on and normal service was resumed.

But just confirm it was deffo the filter I cut the old one open and had a look inside

Yep that's knackered.

I don't think Toyota have changed their fuel filter design for about thirty years.

Went to a car meet today with a mate. Mostly modern stuff but a few older stuff that caught my interest.

First one was for @vulgalour. Ignore the Lamborghini Ur Anus in the background spoiling this picture.

Not sure if the person who bought it on here ever outed himself. However it is great to see it out, about and being used.
