So it appears that @Six-cylinder's nemesis, the slightly larger engined yellow Chavalier, is local. He appeared at Whittlebury on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I had another event to attend to and didn't get a chance to speak to the owner who was busy polishing his end.

I'm now fully car showed out. Other than Sunday Scramble in October, I have nothing booked until the NEC in November.

You can always visit the Field of Dreams this weekend and meet the under nourished Cavalier?

Do they not let you take pictures in showrooms these days?

No idea! I was bored waiting for the parts department. 😇

*Edit* There was a bloke taking pictures of some kind of electric SUV with a false grille on it...

It is a dream of mine to buy some cheap land somewhere in a desolate part of north america and build a big log cabin on it and just say fuck off to the rest of the world.

I have that too. If it had not been for parents, I would probably have moved to Canada if I could have long ago. But do not know how difficult it is to become a permanent citizen there. Becuse some places like the US are difficult.

Getting into Canada at the moment is very difficult- the admission system was fucked about with heavily during the pandemic but it's clearing up gradually. My brother it tantalisingly close to emigrating after a 2-year battle to get in.

That's good to know. And wondering how they are with education and profession as it is is not very good for me. But do not know if it would ever become something but can dream. Where will your brother settle in Canada?

Somewhere in outer Vancouver. He was able to transfer his job in mining to an office over there which helped get his income secure. He still had to amass funds to prove he could sustain himself long enough to get a job IIRC.

That's the thing. The missus, in particular, is heavily edumecated. They seem to have a large lean on that, even though her current skills aren't at all transferable, whereas mine, being in IT, are very much in demand (I have a degree, but it's entirely irrelevant)

We considered the move last year and despite our ages, were told by the consulate we would be a shoe-in.

Taking that all away, however, my Son, being a trained chef, right now would get a visa in pretty much any country in the world, such is the shortage. It's not quite the status of those in the healthcare industry, but not far off!

It just seemed you were doing the 'secret shopper/Watchdog with Matt Allwright' thing with your phone. 🤣

In a surprising turn of events, my family have said they want me to keep the BX because they like it. Quite the different tone from last week, that's for sure. All of this is thanks to my dad rediscovering a hydropneumatic Citroen specialist a couple miles away from where I live. He's even booked it in for me. Going to have the garage look over it first, but the car might hang onto me for a little while yet...

I'll try to get the place's name and post it here should other PSA lickers the the South East need work done.

Day one of class 2 training done, mentally knackered!

I would of advised it's mentally intense.

That looks like just a beefed up suspension 7.5t though. Even if it's plated 12t.

Just be aware when you pass you could be chucked keys for something a lot bigger and heavier.

Yeah it does feel small, unfortunately no choice in the vehicle.. they have a DAF which is smaller than this too!

True, some Audis are horrendous, though I think some are nice looking, but the grille on the Audi is not attractive, it shouts 'Arsehole inside'.

Why do they put them on EVs though? Eurgh.

Edit: not every Audi driver is an arsehole, I get that. But a lot of arseholes have Audis.

The new BMW grill is worse, forget the tidy kidney shapes, we now seem to be deep within giant gopher teeth.

Also true, it's not to everyone's taste.

But car designers set tastes to a degree. On a that's known for avant-garde and ugly styling few people care, like Toyota etc but in a brand like BMW that are known for their minimal and traditional styling that's widely appreciated the new grilles look odd!

But even BMW don't owe us any particular look.

No, but I tend to buy cars I like the looks of. Bmw is by far the worse of the current year’s crop. The other one that I really detest is the Honda Civic which looks like a computer game rendering. Angles everywhere.

I waa following a Hundy Snarter the other day and it looked like a Kia that had reversed into a loading dock.

We've reverted back to the seventies where all the Eastern imports all look the same, or like something else, and all the home grown cars have the same derisive looks the Sierra did when it replaced the Cortina.

I quite like the Hyundai and Mazda at the moment, but there is nit much to choose between them. One of the reasons I bought a fiat.

We have at last exchanged contracts on the house, moving day is Thursday! That puts the pressure on moving the last few bits and bobs out of the garage.

Laurel and Lexus are loaded-up with parts and wheels/tyres, good job it's only a short distance we're going as both are now sitting rather low.

DIscovered last night that a 1986 Laurel engine I'd sold doesn't easily fit into an 11-reg Insignia estate. Well, it fitted but he was nervous about the boot floor and suspension so is hopefully coming back today with something else.

Still got two 240K engines, a manual 'box and a load of glass to shift. Think I've got a taker for them, but they're going to need to be stored somewhere temporarily - hopefully we have a van to get them into tonight.....

I've been chipping away with jobs on the Golf still, the original interior was all worn and split and quite tatty but replacements are really expensive so imagine my excitement when I spotted a new interior out of a later Clipper model on FB marketplace for £250, the only downside was that it was in Orpington and needed collecting that night, so last Saturday I shot down at 9pm and brought this lot home.

To replace this lot

It wasn't too bad to swap over, changed all the door cards to match too, the only issue was the later seats have the slider handles the opposite way round so they need swapping round and slightly bodged back on with cable ties which seem to work

Definite improvment though.

I also painted the alloys whilst I was at it all.

I'm now just waiting for the new Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs to arrive so I can throw the shit coilovers off a cliff and I'll be happy!
