After waiting nearly 2 weeks for a new waterpump for my Cavalier, I received it today and IT DOESNT FUCKING FIT.

The pulley mount is too small.

Clearly and specifically listed for a Cavalier 1.7TD.

It's from ebay thankfully it was only only tenner.

Now, the gasket fits the old pump, and it is actually slightly less stiff to turn than the new one so I'm presuming it's OK.

Do I just refit it? It's driven by the aux belt so I guess absolute perfect condition isn't as important than if it were driven by the timing belt.

I tried my hardest to lease an interesting,  hybrid/EV through work. They are very suitable for my needs, and I genuinely believe they're the future especially for people like me with a 9 mile commute.

New car dealers and massive wait times scuppered that, so I'm driving to bristol tomorrow to have a look at this instead

Another thoroughly enjoyable ECR meet this evening.  I'm always amazed by the variety of cars that turn up.  I went down in the Toyota as it hadn't really had a run since before the first lockdown.  Here it is parked between a rather nice E28 520i and a very rorty twin-cam-powered Mk1 Escort.

It wasn't the only metallic turquoise '90s Toyota there - this mildly barried Corolla was also in attendance.

Angrydicky was there in his Rover 620.

This Badermatic Mk2 Escort was rather lovely.

The brown 604 V6 was there again, parked next to a rather nice Renault 5.

This Countach replica was quite convincing.

Although it had competition for the title of lowest car of the show in the form of this Europa.

Nice '30s Vauxhall 14/6 (I think).

I took more but haven't got time now to post them all.  [Edit: Trigger's beaten me to it anyway while I was fannying around with my new phone.]

That's down a road my uni mate lived on for a year, going by that road name. Also only around the corner too from where @Six-cylinder Bristol AX lived for most of its life.

(Horfields is a bit crappy and a large student population too)

Just a few from our East Coast Retros meet this evening, good to see you there Dicky and Wuvvum!

Gah! Disappointed I couldn't make it, unfortunately I had the wrong car at work and by the time I'd have got home and swapped it wouldnt have been worth it. At least I had the pleasure of seeing a few of them heading down the A140 as I drove home.

This Escort 1.1L with immaculate with only 12000 miles, the floor was like new, unfortunately the wheels and headlights were a bit of a let down for me.

Yeah, a bit of a shame. It looked much smarter before:

Guy's work is good. Also he is Eastern European. The guys who did my valve stem oil seals were eastern european - they did the work for a grand while the BMW specialists ran for the hills.

Was it on a N46 2.0 Per chance? Mine are clearly fucked, managed to go through the Birmingham Clean Air zone smoking like the Trotters Three wheel van earlier.

I'm starting to think my 2.0 diesel mondeo mk4 is trying to turn into a steam loco giving the coal smelling smoke it's chucking out!

On a side note, from October it'll cost me to drive the Mondeo (fuel injected, cat, all that gubbins) through the ULEZ - but the Capri (carb, points/condenser) will be free.

I intend on driving the Capri through Trafalgar Square, just to make a point.
