Also fitted my Brink detachable towbar that came with the car.

It was pretty corroded inside the slot on the frame under the bumper, all good now though.

Can't wait to get my new cycle carrier tomorrow, get the number plate on and the lamps flashing!

Haven't got our bikes yet though 🤣

Randomly encountering Furious Driving, though briefly, in the local supermarket was a bit of a surprise today.  Also learned that the new tyres are good enough on the Maestro to induce bodyroll when pressing on in a way the old tyres never gave the confidence to allow.  I'd been getting some weird occasional sensations through the controls on the old tyres, a bit like a worn ball joint or wheel bearing, occasional twitchiness, and couldn't pin it down to anything until fitting the new tyres highlighted it was the old ones being the cause.

Still can't find a new downpipe though, and it's annoying because I haven't been able to fully cure the blow at the flexi on the existing downpipe yet.  It's better than it was when @worldofceri delivered it and might even get through an MoT, it's just annoying when you put your foot down because it sounds as bad as the rear arches look.

Surely making up a front section wouldn't be too bad a job for a stainless exhaust specialist.  I was looking to get a tailpipe made up for the Lada before I sold it as I couldn't find the correct one for the estate for love nor money.  Local guys here quoted me £150 for it.

Worth asking around at least I'd think.  They might at least be able to suggest a solution to tide you over.  I know how annoying that sort of thing can be and it's the sort of thing  that would have driven me round the bend by now.

Looks like you were just near the gnome flat.  Which I try and avoid parking across from because it creeps me out.

Regularly go there with Lady Grumpius to have our dinner or a cup of coffee.  Lovely spot and I used to work just up the road.

Registration document received yesterday for the new Hyundai. I get the balance of the 5 year manufacturer warranty, which runs out in March 2023. :common007:

Refund cheque received this morning for VED on the trade in Almera, which would have expired on 1st Sept. I had a Direct Debit instruction with DVLA, which paid for the VED on it each 6 months, so I'm a bit confused about the cheque. Why not refund direct into my back account?  Probably less fuss for them I suppose. Re: gets away from potential complaints of refunds into incorrect bank accounts.

Picked up some free stuff for my Mk1 Uno this week, a brand new set of unused genuine Fiat Tipo wheel trims in 13 inch flavour. Do I need them right now... well.. no, the car has got a period set of Fiat accessory alloys on right now. However I've got the original steel wheels, as it's good to have options! And I got a center brake light kit too from the same person, also was unused an something I've been after for a while now. Looking forward to when my car is back on the road, an I can get these fitted 👍

I removed the SD1's calipers yesterday.

The copper pipes would not come free with them in situ. A vice, heat, 10mm socket and a 2lb hammer got rid of them. I need some new pipe and fittings.

Bigg red quoted £165 for them to be overhauled. I won't send them off until after Wednesday - the BM has it's MOT. I will wait and see what happens with that first.

Day 1 today of doing the head lining and sunroof overhaul on the 740.

We got it all off and stripped down and started covering the sun roof panels, and managed to get the sunroof mechanism straight.

The A and C pillar trim suffered cracks but I think i can patch them up or replace from a breaker on the Volvo forum.

Also the head board broke into three but that can be gaffer taped and covered over as usual.

So far net results are a net improvement, tomorrow to recover the Main board and put it all back.

So far so good.

Who's jumping who?

IMG_20210626_114853.thumb.jpg.1b63b6c54f1e985768dc13e28d3d74ad.jpg

I'm jumping the Up! obviously. I hadn't turned up with this intention, I'd turned up to help my friend move house. Once everything was packed up his Mrs went to get the Up! and it wouldn't start. The battery wasn't just flat, it was totally and utterly dead. It hadn't been used for two weeks (he also has a very similar bright green Citigo, just visible above the open door of the Up!). But even so, this shouldn't happen after just two weeks. So despite the two cars being practically identical and having come off the same production line I've decided the Škoda badged one has better build quality.

It was fortunate that I had the jump leads with me. They usually live in the Triumph but I left my lights on at work a couple of weeks ago and had to come back and jump the Fav with the Felly and I just chucked the leads in the front footwell. I could just have easily put them back in the Felicia so that was lucky.

I like the colour co-ordination.
