It got sold some time after the last FOTU, where it was on display. Some wankpuffin rollered it matt green and turned the inside into a really, really shit camper conversion then put it on eBay again, I seem to recall it had a stained glass window in there (?!). It's fucking ruined now. BorniteIdentity

A quick search suggests the owner who showed it when A1 condition and then sold it, only sold it due to emigrating. Probably just as well by the sound of it; if they still lived local to it in it's current guise, they'd likely want to smash the hipster's beardy face in... Dare I ask, anyone got the link from when it was sold most recently?

So that's the new interior of that minty clean, restored ex BG Transit shown above? I can't comprehend why someone would do that to such a fantastic example which likely cost them a hefty purchase price initially, rather than a rotten £500 shitter which would be more deserving of this fate... vulgalour
Did the tank-to-tank fuel up on the Maestro and learned it does 26.4mpg urban. That seems pretty good for what it is. LightBulbFun
Yoss
This could go in the lazy spotters thread but I think it deserves a bit more exposure. There is an elderly couple on my delivery who have a garage at the back of their drive. Occasionally one of the garage doors would be open and I could just see the corner of this from a distance. I've been on this delivery about five years and never seen more than a glimpse. Today it was out the front and I got to see it in all its glory. How fabulous is this. But the sad news is it's going away. The good news is their son is taking it on so it's staying in the family. It is much better than I ever expected. A quick MOT check shows no rust at all. I was chatting to the old boy, saying I used to drive these regularly for Royal Mail and he happily pointed out that that his was a 2 litre petrol, O series I think, and goes quite well. I could use this as an everyday car then. Though it deserves better than that as the rust would soon creep in if I did that. Inside was mint too. I shall miss it even though I've never seen it properly until today. It used to make my day just seeing it from a distance occasionally. cms206
We have been on holiday this week in the van. An awesome week in a cracking campsite, loads to do, WIFE_CMS got horrifically sunburnt, smol_cms has had an absolute ball. The only issue with the van itself is the fridge has been playing up Then my attention was drawn. Our van has visitors. wuvvum
I removed the steering column shroud in the Ypsilon earlier (what a faff that was - all the interior plastics in that car seem to be fitted together like a bloody Chinese puzzle) to investigate whether I could work out which wires related to the (broken) headlight switch, and reroute them via a separate om/off switch. No such luck - the column stalks are in one unit with a single multiplug for both stalks, which has 8 wires running from it, four of which are green. So I have no chance of finding which one is which - I bought what seems to be the only workshop manual available for the car and it's bloody useless, so I've got nothing to go on. New set of stalks required then. Bloody moderns.

Seen on Vice Grip Garage...but in my experience it seems to work far better than actual bug spray these days. The cans usually have a decent range too which is helpful. Had issues with them hanging around by the garage door last year and that proved a very effective method of dealing with the ones which got too bothersome which I wasn't able to just leave be. timolloyd

Split_Pin
CMS's Talbot now that IS a camper, designed and being used as such and it looks great. Joy. I don't normally bother about modified vehicles but the ruination of that Transit County is a bit frustrating. This was an iconic and very rare vehicle that looked like it had been sympathetically restored. It would have created a lot of joy at shows and still been useful as a van. Why do people make shit hipster camper conversions like that?? They almost always go to shit and end up half-arsed and half-finished on ebay or Marketplace. Fumbler
Oh, I've also discovered why the engine is so oily and why I needed to top it up a couple of days ago.The rocker cover gasket has essentially split apart at both forward facing corners and are very wet with oil, which is why I was seeing golden drips on the bottom of the accumulator and gearbox bell housing. While I'm changing that I might as well adjust valve clearances as it sounds rather tappety. While the timing belt is new, as is the waterpump by the looks of things, I'll probably opt to get them replaced at some point once I hit 110,000 miles. At that moment in time, I may as well fit the surfaced and cleaned cylinder head I have, complete with the valvetrain and camshaft.
