trigger
Thank you, I should really post more on here again, I probably also should have made a thread about the car really but didn't think anyone would be that interested and I don't have as much time in front of a computer like I used too anymore. mk2_craig, LightBulbFun, Coprolalia and 8 others
Split_Pin
I swapped over the Speedlines from the Corsa. I don't like them. I suppose it would look better if I lowered it but there's no way I'm doing that. I can't fit the centre caps yet as the driveshaft stub end has about 3 foot of excess thread so it needs trimmed down. Common problem with these wheels. I've had about 25 messages about the Corsa already, only one person has actually got to the stage of saying they'll come and see it at the weekend. One guy said he'd come tomorrow morning but then he said he'd need to get the bus over and could I bring it to him. I've filed him under 'potless fool' for the time being. Leyland Worldmaster
Well what a fucking relief! Alison started making some metallic noises from the N/S/F. Oh fuck. Checked with neighbour and we diagnosed a possible CV Joint. Wheel vibrating appeared to confirm this. Until yesterday, when I heard that noise, then scraping then ping. A wheel balancing weight lodged itself somewhere; like small stones sometimes do; and made a bid for freedom. No damage save scratches on the inside of the wheel thank fuck. Must cancel the (hurriedly and panicked) booking to check and replace CV Joint... Oh and get the fucking wheel re-balanced... Edited April 20, 2021 by Leyland Worldmaster Wobbling? No. Vibrating? Yes... Yoss

But it sounds like it's a lot better now without hideous expenditure. Job jobbed. trigger and LightBulbFun

I've seen those. I'll be interested to see how long it lasts. GrumpiusMaximus
Car went into the garage yesterday because of screeching noises at full lock. Thought it would be the power steering belt. Nope. Alternator pulley and belt. My garage isn't cheap but I don't mind £163 for them to change it seeing as I can't even diagnose the cursed thing properly... Depends if you can be bothered though, I'm pooped with working on cars for a few days at least! What are your thoughts? Just had a chat with my mate, showed him the sill and he seemed happy enough to do it. It needs a plate about 8" long. The other two bits of welding are tiny - 5p-sized holes just above the track control arm front mounts. CV boots are actually fine, it's the clips that weren't holding them in place anymore so a pair of Jubilee clips will sort that. Wheel cylinders are a tenner each. So it's doable. BorniteIdentity
Oh by the way - you and I are going on a little road trip. Quote A unique collection of 130 British cars, in almost as many paint shades, was unveiled in Derbyshire today. After years spent finding and storing the cars, Richard Usher, finally saw his dream come to reality as the first of his cars were unwrapped and moved to their new location in Ambergate. In addition to the static display, they’ll be another 32 cars which can be driven on a private circuit around the old wire factory buildings on the banks of the river Derwent. The Great British Car Journey attraction, opening on May 22, tells the story of British car design and production from 1922 when Herbert Austin produced the Austin Seven, the first commercially accessible car to a mass market, through to the present day. This is it, boys. Our Mecca. Our pilgrimage awaits. https://www.facebook.com/GreatBritishCarJourney/ I do genuinely think we ought to be supporting this sort of nonsense... so let's try and get something sorted? Yoss
A couple of weeks ago I showed you my new* hose reel holder. I say new, I dragged it out of the garage from where it had sat since we moved in. Well I decided to spruce it up a bit to match our nice new windows in the porch to which it is attached. Rubbed it all down and polished it up. The inner bit is black aerosol, no need to mask, just point from the centre outwards. The inserts I didn't fancy masking up for obvious reasons and I didn't have any brush paintable black but I found this tin of maroon Hammerite, actually a mix of burgundy and dark blue to match my Triumph, I've used it under the arches. Looks OK doesn't it? I would have spent longer both polishing and painting if it was actually going on a car but it's good enough for a wall. Volksy
Had a run out this weekend. Leeds to Manchester, then up to the Isle of Harris in the Hebrides. For legitimate reasons I will add. Drove up through Glen Coe, via Ben Nevis and over to the Islands, empty roads - and I mean empty. The C180 performed impeccably, only used a tank of fuel to get there, and got out without any aches or pains. I must say, I'm rather impressed with it! juular
I'm getting pissed off at the (new) driver's side strut on my C70. I noticed months ago the top mount rubber could be turned by hand easily, and I was getting a strange popping noise occasionally. I nipped up the top nut and all was right for a while, until I noticed the noise again recently and the rubber is loose again. Wtf?
