Pete-M
Spent most of the last week painting the inside of the house. 120 sqm of "innen wand farbe" which is some weird matt white paint stuff that's the standard issue wall painting gear out here in Germany. Two rooms and the hall ceiling left to do. It feels like it has been going on forever. One of the rooms is large, so that'll take a while, the other has previously been painted completely in probably the most miserable grey-blue colour I've ever seen. I imagine that'll take about 30 litres of stuff just to sort it. Still, the house is beginning to feel like a home now. It's hilarious trying to hang pictures or get furniture to sit square as the house is 400+ years old and half-timbered so everything is on the wonk. Lockdown means no visiting friends or whatever over Christmas, so I suspect I'll be spending Christmas doing yet more painting. It's been an interesting few weeks, but it's beginning to harvest results. Supernaut, Coprolalia, HillmanImp and 11 others

It was a munitions storage facility in the second world war, then a mushroom farm, then a cutting edge industrial underground safely lab. I think there are other random industries too, including the banger race course. They also used to do junior kickstart up there.

Didn't come with curtain rails of blinds. You have to fit yourself and remove and make good before you leave. But she wasn't allowed to drill holes after 6pm and no DIY on The weekend, without a permit. So she had to employ someone to fit blinds, during the day when she was at work. brownnova
Just took the 2CV out for a Christmas Eve run seeing as the usual Christmas Day run won’t be happening as that’s the only day to actually see anyone. I have concluded that the headlights on the 2CV are far better than those on my 9000. So I should probably do something about those... EssDeeWon
Finally managed to find a nice dry safe secure garage to park the 75 in. Best bit is its FREE! Belongs to a family member who has been telling me for over a year "That big Rover wont go in" but all yours if you want it. Popped over today with a trusty tape measure and there is plenty of room, well about 6 inches to spare. Angrydicky
Had to run an errand up to Leicestershire today, so took the old £250 Ronda. Great car, never missed a beat despite having to negotiate many badly flooded roads that would have caused moderns with their daft snow scoop air intakes to expire dramatically. The A14 and A1 were both closed in places, due to flooding presumably, so I had fun getting to my destination. The sat nav took me through central Leicester, which was no fun at all. Traffic was bad and I didn’t know the area. I did see an R reg, dark blue Almera saloon in Leicester, looked very original on local “JF” plates, sadly I was driving so no picture. Wanting to avoid the major roads on the way back to Norfolk I ended up making a detour over to Boston to drive past the house my parents have agreed to buy with some of the proceeds of the sale of my late grandparents bungalow in Southend. 3.5 acres of land including various barns etc. Can’t wait to move my shite in, sadly due to Covid etc I am unable to view it currently. clayts450
Yeah A14 got flooded badly last night. I managed to get through the Kettering to M1 bit yesterday evening and it was already turning into a stream. Ghosty
On my way home from work today I passed a Rialto, with steel hubcaps from an older car, and a set of 1970s reflective numberplates. I put the plate into the DVLA checker thing and it came back as a Reliant Rebel. Ooer, someone's dodging MOTs. Civic is currently dirty as all hell as I got stuck behind a fucking gritter on the M60, it was going 55mph in the middle lane and blinding everyone with the salty shite. No fucker would pass it either. 2:30pm. Makes no sense at all, as most of the salt ended up on people's cars... After I passed it it moved in to the inside lane, and rightly bloody so.
