Tardis is amazing. It could literally remove any contaminant from paintwork

Another staple, I use is highstyle, rubber dressing looks amazing on tyres etc

Yup! I go through it more with cleaning vacuum bearings lol. But the car is due a pre winter detail so I'll be sure to splash it about there too!

Do autosmart do a nice by hand polish? Something like srp, can be filler heavy as it likes but easy on/easy off as a base for wax is what I want!

Between us, the Mrs and I have done 500 miles in the new i10 this week, no ill effects for us or the car, maybe a slight front suspension knock - I have to find something to worry about!

It's so easy to drive, especially being an auto. All modernz may be shit, but truth is smoll cars have come on a long way.

360something miles covered London to Edinburgh, averaged 33mpg. Had hoped for a bit more as motorway, but then theres quite a bit in the back. I used cruise control for the first time properly, it felt a bit odd and disconnected. Fine for empty motorways, didn't like it on country roads or in any sort of traffic. Faultless performance though.

I may treat it to a new bumper at some point... Perhaps that can be a reward if it passes the MoT first time!

Eek, that's a recipe for a crash!

Yeah, rapidly decided against using it. Some bits of the A68 were nice and straight and empty, but too many turns in other parts. Never driven anything with cruise control before! Although my foot was above the brake pedal all the time, I was just too anxious and out of control.

Manual cruise control isn't great I've found. Having driven hundreds of miles with radar cruise, it is better.

Although not perfect! I turned it off in the end and used my foot as to pull out into fast moving traffic just left too many gaps and felt too slow.

In my blue laguna though, I could drive home by resuming and pausing the cruise! Was an auto though so that did help.

Speed limiter is the handy dandy one! Especially if it works at 30

I just set the cruise control a fair bit slower than the traffic then use the throttle to maintain the speed with it.

My dad was laughing at me as I was doing it, says it takes some practise.

In 30/40mph motorway traffic though it'd a godsend!

I can usually tell if the car beind be has it in too, they inevitably race up the sit almost exactly xxx off my bumper as they latch on. Soon as I cary. My speed through the corners you see the front end dip as they realise they don't want to go round this corner at 65, and I loose them. They've caught up by the next straight bit.

Not so much "get off my arse m8" now as dial your flecking radar back a bit.

The world we live in!

Got a new driver's door loom for the Galaxy recently and started to fit it. Annoyingly, the electric mirror part of it has different blocks to the original one. No massive thing, but will need cutting/soldering to make it right. TBH, can live without the mirrors being electric for now, so it's gone back together.

Getting the plug into the main loom (by the door shut) was a right PITA, luckily my lad managed to do it.

Anyhow, the locking now locks the fuel flap as it used to, but sadly hasn't fixed all the locking/unlocking, so will probably check all the other door looms to see if other wires broken. The battery flattening issue us getting worse, hoping to get a multi meter on the car this weekend to try and find the drain. The glow plug lights have gone off now though, so that and the locking fuel flap are very small victories to be claimed.

Have to confess though, as much as I love this car I think it's time to get something either more modern or less hassle. If I can sort the electrical drain it'll make a massive difference (currently changing the battery sometimes three times a week if car not being used), but think I'm at that crossroads where sometimes you get tired of fixing problems and just want something to get in without jump starting or arising about.

@17-Coffeesto the beige phone, please. He has one of these, or a very similar one for a different model of Renault.

This has just landed in my local scrappers. Sat in a garage since 2003, apparently it fired up first try and drove onto the truck!

David Yarham Salvage, near Norwich. 01508 482612.

Got to be worth saving that, looks quite minty, surely @wuvvumis looking for his next project and is local..

Newly charged battery fitted to Galaxy, short drive to fuel station tenner's worth of Shell's finest added. Took it up the road for a bloody good shoeing and the bastarding thing has gone back into limp mode :(

Had to take the Combo on the panned (40 mile) round trip instead, that threw the EML light on (was told about it by previous owner) but it made no difference at all to the performance. Obvs. like you have to stick to the speed limits for legal and safety reasons, but if you didn't have to stick to the speed limits (or were on a private test track) I think it might* do three figure speeds with more to go.

Supernaut alerted me to this.
I got a copy of this flexidisc the other month off eBay. Found out about flexidiscs then looked on eBay, cheapest one to come up! (Cheaper than a bottle of coke) it works too.

I’ll see about uploading a video later in the day of it working, its pure AS gold! 😎
