Thanks to the efficient transportation of @worldofceri and previous owner @Kiltox, I'm now the owner of the ex-@purplebargeken Hyundai i10 - which will be the daily hack, and was why I put the Mazda up for sale.

As the previous most modern car I've owned was from 2002, this is a bit of a jump forward*! I hope we have many miles of white goods motoring...

^^ Oh, nice one. It is entirely a white goods vehicle, simple, efficient and perfectly acceptable for most situations.

I almost bought it from you first time round! It would be good if it could be used for its whole life on the forum...

It has been a faithful companion to my OH who used it for the past year and a half. Cracking little motor.

Also A1 buyer would sell car to completely sight unseen again A++++++

I did something today I vowed never to do. I made a purchase from a BMW main stealer.20200911_122315.thumb.jpg.d29170df2864d10fe8c0c42b06bd1604.jpg

Coolant overflow pipe for the 545. The original had failed due to brittleness. It cost £45 - not too unreasonable - I actually walked out of a BMW dealer with my ringpiece intact.

Here's where the original failed.20200911_124719.thumb.jpg.149dc79e4ab37027eaa9571c3ca334da.jpg

Due to one end being fitted with a crimped clip I had to remove the panel over the radiator.20200911_125651.thumb.jpg.992840675c0e9d490df2da5bde41c339.jpg

Here is the new one in place. I used one of those fuel type clips as I did'nt have a small jubilee clip. It seems to be leak free now - however I will have to watch as much of the cooling system is plastic and nearing its 16th birthday - the thermostat does'nt open until 105 degrees(!) so some more spending could be on the horizon.

As was I.

Sadly I have never been a passenger in this or any other i10, however the fair wife & I continued our staycation with another trip out in the Rover, today we went to Rutland water. I love the wuffle of the V6 through the autobox, the leisurely way the revs rise & fall. I'm also particularly enamoured of the way that it drops just a single ratio, from fifth to forth to negotiate slowish roundabouts & powers away from them by just slurring the torque convertor. Although I forgot to take any photographs of the 75, I did manage to snap this relatively exciting ice cream van.

I went looking at cars today!

No, No not for me, but my friend fancies a Triumph 2500 Estate, there are a couple up for Auction at CCA Stoneleigh 18th July and today we booked a viewing.

The blue one was whole but quite patched and he did not fancy that. The green one was a little better if not great and he will have a bid on it. All depends how carried away people get but I hope he wins it as I will get to drive it.

Polonez passed inspection without advisories.

This exhaust hanger will definitely need replacing. I think I have one in me parts stash.

I've also discovered the intake thermostat isn't opening, so I'll either need to find a new working one or prop the current one up in the open position.

Ordered what I thought was a new VTEC spool valve gasket for the CR-V off of eBay.  Just had a knock on the door, parcel arrived but was rather heavier than expected.  Opened it up and this was inside.

Yep, it's a complete, brand new spool valve assembly.  Including the gasket.  For £2.78 including postage.  Hermes even managed to deliver it a day early.  Result!

Some nice metal in that catalogue! I really fancy the VDP 4-litre R myself.

Interestingly, the catalogue states that the white ADO16 has 'lowered suspension' - I doubt one side is meant to be more lowered than the other!

I'll have the Devon woody, although the Rover one doesn't look too bad either

Yesterday went to take the TS185 to work. Moved two cars and opened two garages, got bike out, shut both garages, moved both cars back, bike wouldn't start. Reverse procedure, go to work in van.

Asked for advice on-line, previous owner reminded me of weird starting procedure. Applied it this morning, bike starts, idles and runs, happy days.  Went to petrol station, filled to brim (half way through had to hold bike up as side stand is very long), paid and rode off. Hmm, my legs feel wet, why's that? Oh yeah,. because knobhead here 'repaired' the petrol cap with strong glue a bit back and clearly it's held the cap together but not sealed it properly. Riding with a full to the top tank against the window at 40-50mph made an interesting* spray pattern emerge.

FFWD to this evening, takes Mrs Craft to work in the Combo and the battery light came on. No noticeable reason, didn't seem to effect anything. Came home, turned van on and off and the light has gone.

The good news is though, the PO had been twatted up the arse end in the van and said the tow bar took the brunt, but he'd been paid out by the third  party''s insurance and the van has been through an MOT since. They never asked him for the V5 (he kept the van and the pay out) so suggested it'd come back as Cat N or something, so just took that on the chin and decided to see what would happen. Log book is back, no mention of the 'Cat' marker.  RESULT.
