For some reason, this reminds me of an old cartoon where a character saws a circle in the floor and then falls through it. But I guess it does take all sorts to make a world and life is busy. Having worked on air springs I understand how it could go wrong so easily and with terrible consequences, so if you are thinking of repairing your saggy motor car then just spend a few minutes covering how you intend to do it.

Got my zx estate from detailing it. Removing all the grime of it has revealed the horizontal surfaces to have the typical Citroen laquer. Thankfully it's not too bad and hopefully the treatment applied will halt any more degradation for a while yet. Look at that shine though, well chuffed!

I'm probably mental but i put the Granada on ebay last night, I'm not really using due to this virus and i was never planning on keeping it so thought I'd try selling it now whilst the weather is nice and it be worth more than in the winter when no one wants old cars, I've had several emails etc but tonight I had a good offer on it and pending a payment it might be going up north.

The Marina might be next for the chop ? I''m not not sure yet but as lovely as the car is and I know i'll never find another car in that condition i really want something a little more exciting to drive which has rear seat belts and is also tax exempt (it's much easier to live with and insurance is cheaper too!) and want to use the money from both cars to pay for it.

Have you still got the van?  My granada hasn't moved out it's garage in 8 months, it's a real shame, it's probably better for you  and the car to sell it on to someone who'll use it.

Auto Aid collected the 944 and took it to Cavendish Porsche, yesterday afternoon.

It's back this afternoon with lovely new fuel pipes...

Why did it take so fucking long? Apparently the correct pipes are difficult to obtain. Now I don't mind that, and I appreciate that bits for old cars don't grow on trees, but a phone call or a text message or something would have been appreciated. I had words. That's Cavendish Porsche, if you're wondering where to lose your expensive motor car for a month.

Imprinted concrete, pretty colours and patterns for the Mrs, sealed and oil proof for the leaky old shiters, win win ?

Amazingly the fair wife & I have have reached a better compromise. Block paved in grey to satisfy her lust for aesthetics, with an 18 inch wide black gravel trough down the centre for my Bauhaus inspired, form follows function requirements of somewhere for the oil to drip.

A bit blurry but this is a tray that attaches to the back of the front passenger and driver seats of my Kangoo. One was missing so i got this one from ebay for a fiver.  Its for a Scenic but i will be surprised if they are any different. Maybe a shade of grey out but at least my kids wont fight over which side they want to sit.

Enough procrastination.  Time to actually deal with this spaghetti.  I have absolutely no idea what goes where, but there's at least one circular bit of wiring in there...

I've been putting this off since getting the van.

You can’t complain at a little wiring like that when you have an xjs!

That is infinitely better than it was when I got the van...back then there were two sets of battery terminals floating around in the battery box and half a dozen wires connected to nothing - several of which turned to be unfused and connected to the vehicle battery + at the other end...how it never caught fire is beyond me.

Today has been a good day, finally i think things are starting to get back to something like normal.

after the upset of the last few weeks, ending with the FiL's funeral last week,

Rodney Mini has finally come  out to play. After cutting down the 2 foot high weeds that had grown up in front of the garage first....

Now Kerry said she thought that the car was loosing oil, like a lot of oil, and while, yes there is a far sized spot on the garage floor, a look underneath has shown that the drive shafts are dry, as was the back of the engine and around the rocker box. the gear change though is oily,as is to be expected.

Alos, the car was running like a back of shite, or it was last time it was out before lockdown. it was miss-firing when given nay sort of revs, but we drove it over to the garage for some fresh petrol. in a rush of blood to the head i even put sper-max-v-extra-whatever high octane in. well about 1 and half gallons worth...... with how ever much stale fuel was in there, i figured that some better petrol wouldn't do it any harm. so much so that the miss-fire has gone. which is nice.

So the tiny car has been to the in-laws,for a soapy wash and  polish before coming home.  And i have had the best drive  across the moors in like 9 months or so,cos that would be the last time that one of the tiny cars was out and on the road.

Sitting outside with a small glass of red and my peace had been disturbed by a chinook passing right overhead. No idea where it’s heading as it doesn’t appear on Flightradar24

funny, cos the last few days we have had at least one merlin helicopter (one today, on Saturday there were 4 of them!) come over us, on an afternoon. there must be some exercise on.

New upgraded rear wiper arm/blade fitted. Looks a million times better and really suits the car, old one has been binned. Popped in some subtle LED number plate lights too and changed the reverse lightbulb. Noticed it was out the other day and it's the easiest thing, you push in a tang and it pops out. It still said motorcraft on so possibly the original or just a dealer visit. Fully working now.

I had to nip to the bank in Newcastle yesterday so parked (for free, thanks tescos) in Gateshead and walked over the bridge into town, spotting this on the way

looks like it could be closed down but, by the time I'd come back, the doors were open and fettling was going on, disappointingly no reliants were visible, only boring normal cars :(

Another faultless 550-mile round trip in the Rover 75 this weekend to see the folks in Somerset.  It's reminded me of a couple of jobs I need to do though - sort out the dodgy self-levelling on the nearside headlight and try and get the aircon belt sorted.

Those little arms that connect between the ballast and the suspension arms look really frail compared to the rest of the cars structure around it. I believe the ones on mine have been replaced at some point.
