Mini now has a new headlight - should have been easy but as per usual one captive nut decided to spin so after trying several conventional approaches I tried an unconventional one called “Hammer”.  That worked.  About to find if three bolts hold it in as well as four bolts but I have a replacement mounting bit on the way so can get all four bolts in later this week

Light is in and roughly aligned by eye but will have to have another go when it’s darker.  Just having tea before changing the pollen filter, let’s see if I have to use “Hammer” again or whether “Super unleaded and matches” might be the better approach for this...

Well if they let you drive the Mayoral Limousine I'm not surprised

Mayoral limo here is an S-class which is probably thirstier.

To be fair when cruising it to the transfer station and back I got well into double figures, about 16mpg, which ain’t bad of 26 tonnes and an old-school Allison slushbox

I’ve always meant to go to a local-ish museum which celebrates all things 50s!

There were some cracking old cars...

This is the indication of where to park

This police car is next to an exhibit about the Krays

This Fiesta used to belong to Christine Keeler...

The truck used on the great train robbery I’d also in this museum but I forgot to photograph it...

Theres a whopping great Cadillac in a section about 50s Rock N Roll

With a Ford which was a one owner car and apparently won’t be painted, but does go on the road! There’s a fair bit of motoring memorabilia here too.

There’s also hilarious adverts from a bygone era

And to top it all off I found a model Renault 16!!

That's probably a remnant from the fire that they had there about 10 years ago. I'd be up for a meeting there as I've never got round to going even though it's fairly close to me.

I seem to be helping to sell other people’s cars atm - rather than my own.

Along with the Eurobus mentioned in the tat thread - I met a bloke last week who needs to rehome this! I don’t even know what it is (other than the obvious) but said I’d ask around.

On the way home tonight I spotted a car in a ditch just off a roundabout.

As I was passing I hadn't noticed the Police tape as it was on the floor at the time. I parked up the road and called the cops whilst running back down (I haven't ran for years ?) by the time I got there the lady call handler confirmed that it had been reported and that the vehicle was awaiting recovery.  There were ar least 3 other cars who had stopped by the time I had got there.

I put the tape back up and hoped others will see it, but because of ongoing roadworks on that stretch the cones get easily confused with the roadworks cones.

The secondhand front strut I bought for the V70 arrived yesterday, and I fitted it this afternoon - much easier than pissing about with new top mounts, it took 45 minutes from start to finish.  A test drive confirmed that the nasty clonking has been cured, and the car now drives better than it ever has in my ownership.  25 quid well spent I reckon.

Ran out of time to look at the 75's exhaust, and I'm out all day tomorrow so that will have to wait for another day.
