Yes I'm in on this blag. My fault for spotting it in the first place on Facebook. My daughter goes to school 24 miles from home now, I have visions of taking this on the school run in the autumn to win the school drop off prestige contest. To be fair, most kids are in Skoda taxis anyway cos it's a special school.

I also gave the Vauxhall 2300S a run for the first time in a while. It was shamefully dusty as I’d been doing woodwork nearby (making a log store out of scrap timber).

The period roof rack was actually for carrying stuff, not for hipster retro style points. I’ve taken it off again now.

The Victor runs very well these days - ever since I sorted the ignition out it’s been super-reliable and the big slant four is really quite pokey. There, that’s jinxed it for sure.

And in case anyone is interested, here’s the new log store - made out of scrap fence posts, a collapsed garden shed and the roof of next door’s demolished extension.

My old now sadly late neighbor had one of these in the 70's it was quite a big beast, his was in a dark brown I recall.

Did some Lancia fettling yesterday, to no great effect. Might try replacing the crank position sensor next.

It’s so beige in that shed that when I go outside everything looks blue.

Some experimenting, from the other day. It turns out that £1 shop spray on carpet glue isn't strong enough to keep Citroen Saxo window trims things in place, and leaves a sort of dribbling mess  Who'd have thunked it, hey?

My elder cousin’s son( is that second cousin or 1st once removed?)  Harri, is off to North Carolina University this week. I’m not entirely sure what he’s studying, but as long as he plays football for them it’s all expenses paid. I mean all- university course fees, living expenses, halls of residence, flights there and home. He has a Welsh under 18 cap I think ( as does his sister, who is the better player I hear) and was in the Shrewsbury( I think )squad but not taken on this year. Honestly it’s the best thing he can do for his future. Even if he doesn’t make it professionally it’s a free degree.

My parents have just been to his farewell party. My aunt, his nan, wasn’t there - she doesn’t want him to go.

I've been making flat pack furniture and listening to the cricket this afternoon - I think that's the definition of a Sunday right there. But, my mechanic hasn't turned up to look at the Mazda just yet...

My x1/9 ticked over to 51,000 miles this morning, 30 years and eight months.  The new exhaust is lovely, but I did do a boo boo when wondering how hot it was getting when I got home. Most of the skin from my hand is now on the tailpipe. Stainless is a very good heat conductor it seems.

Just to rub salt into your wound best 1970s car was won by this beige Elite.

I have got home ok,  but I got nervous they have closed an A road into Buckingham without a proper diversion. The B roads , unclassified roads and villages are choked solid, after 20 mins the temp gauge started to rise first halfway then a little above half but still off the red so I turned around. As I was on home turf I found myself a longer but traffic free route and all seems well.

I do that too. I’d far rather keep moving in any direction than potentially overheat. Despite the fact that I know all the cooling systems are spot on.

I have been to Brackley Classic Car show today, I know not everybody's idea of fun to sit in a field with around 150 other classic cars. There was a full range of valuable classics but for Autoshite a couple caught my eye two Unos a 70 and a 45 and the Mazda 626 was 4 wheel steer. The Micra K10 had a lovely story, bought by a 14 year old and done up by him, but he has not got his license yet so his dad had to drive it there.

12 miles down the road from me and I did not know that Brackley had a classic car show, let alone one that was on today ?.  Nevertheless, today has been pleasant enough.  My son's friend dropped by to show me his recently acquired Triumph TR7 soft top and treated me to a ride of 15 miles in spacious, torquey comfort.  Compared to my son's MX5 which was sold last year, it was a revelation.  A sports car with proper tyres, compliant suspension and decent ground clearance made the ride an absolute pleasure.  The MX5, for all its popularity and sophistication, was downright uncomfortable for me - insufficient legroom in the passenger side being my main gripe and I'm only 5'10".  Actually getting in to sports cars with my inflexibility above the knees is always interesting.*   The MX5 required painful contortions whereas the TR7 was managed much more easily despite the deep sill.

She's 87 now and her family have persuaded her to let it go as they are sorting the house out, presumably they are looking into putting her into home?. She wouldn't even come outside to see me or look at the car as she found it all too upsetting.

You'd better do some video on the Scorpio. Folk LOVE a first start video, and barn/garage finds.

Went to the Retro Rides gathering today. Never been before, but the stars aligned and we happened to find ourselves in Worcestershire on the right weekend! Turns out it’s a really fun show, and I didn’t even have to lower the van to get in!

Heres a few photos from the show!

It was the big Stonham barns car show today which was pretty good, over 900 cars on display, I was asked to judge the post 1976 category which means basically pick my favourite car new than 1976, that's not as easy as you'd think, a Cordoba beige Mk5 Cortina 1.6 GL was getting me excited with only 11000 miles the clock (coincidentally he sold it during the day for £7500 and was paid there and then! It wasn't even for sale!) But I ended up picking this immaculate unrestored Orion 1.6i Ghia with 32000 miles.

To be honest I wasn't really after a Ford but I'm happy with what I picked and the owner was a lovely chap who was over the moon so all was good!

@eddyramrod just find a 300 quid relay and do that :D

HAHA... not bloody likely, it's a right abortion with a tiny fraction of the charm of a £300 Relay, never mind a CF.  No, I'll wait until I get a suitable buyer for Huggy, whenever that might be.

What's her malfunction then? There are direct flights from the UK to NC, it's a nice place to visit.

My Toyota Granvia is now smoking quite badly when starting. The wife suggested I take action.

Did I...

1. Get new glow plugs ready for fitting this evening?

2. Read up on Diesel injectors last night?

3. Buy this sticker...

“Fixed it, love...”
