Tadhg Tiogar
New* Blaupunkt Kingston head unit installed in CX. Fixed co-ax aerial connection as well, so we have Radio 4 again and not white noise crackle. Still trying to work out safe route through existing wiring spaghetti for connection to CD changer. At some stage the CX seems to have had an in-car telephone, going by screw holes in passenger footwell and second rigid aerial at back of roof. Pity this aerial can't be converted for radio reception as a backup aerial would be grand. On the other hand, I'm sure I have an ancient NEC car phone in the shed which would look the part. trigger
I went and viewed a Scorpio that was for sale locally today, I did a silly and bought it! ? Basically the elderly owner bought it in 1990 and parked it in the garage back in 2009, died and they haven't touched it since, it was covered in dust and leaves and it looks like mice may have took up residence but they were keen for it not to be scrapped or raced which in fairness would be criminal so we agreed on a price and now it's mine! I think it has the potential to be a really nice car once I've worked my magic. Lacquer Peel, Aston Martin, djim and 40 others 41

Sir Chocolate Teapot
Nice Scorpio That interior reminds me of about 1987, my 1st part time job working for a small car hire company as delivery driver/ valet. 1 day boss is in the yard and brand new Scorpio ghia arrived as our new top of the range exec rental car. Car unloaded off of car transporter, boss ask me have I driven an automatic before ? . Sure yes no problem ( never driven 1 before). In front of boss standing in front of his new top range rental I proceeded to scrape whole left hand side of Scorpio Ghia on low brick wall, no one told me only 2 pedals and mild panic followed as car refused to stop ! trigger, beko1987 and dome 1
clayts450
Reasonable 'doing things' day today. Zoomed down to Wolverhampton to pick up some new old stock wheel trims for the Rover 620 - lifts the car no end, especially as I already had the matching Rover badge stickers to pop in the middle. Am tempted to frisbee the outgoing ones into the sea. Old: New old (yes I know the valve isn't lined up properly - this was just a loose fit) : Also managed to get the alternator back in to the 214 thanks to an Owners Club member who had the unobtainium bracket - also replaced the adjuster too, for belt and braces approach. Started, all good, no rattles. BorniteIdentity, Six-cylinder, RobT and 2 others
trigger
That's next year's FOTU winner sorted then That's fair to posh for FotU! But it's still good enough to take along. Basically the owner (who's had it since 1990) parked it in the garage as usual and then killed over and his wife wouldn't let anyone touch it, there was nothing wrong with it at all when parked up, I paid £400 which I think is about right? They don't seem to be worth much with a mot but it definitely has the potential to be a very nice car under the dust and cat hair! clayts450, Skizzer, egg and 4 others

RobT
The Senator I've bought looks much ropier than your Granny Trig, so to speak, plus I paid £50 more so you've done alright there I reckon. In a rare show of success, I managed to get the non-running Senny going today. The fuel pump was wired up incorrectly, and I think there might have been air in the system which purged when I loosened a pipe at the fuel rail. Either way it fired up eventually. Thinking I'm on a winner I got Mrs T to drive me the 10 miles to collect it this evening. But the exhaust is so shot it's down on power and is backfiring like a bastard. So recovery it is then. Needless to say I was popular dragging her out on a wasted trip (she soon got over it mind), and it allowed this Vauxhall 1 2 shot. Oh, and I also bought a Mk1 Clio this morning. It had developed a rough running issue and the owner just wanted it gone. I nearly left it just because new shite above, but then he said he'll scrap it and it's way too good for that. 33k miles and it's mega tidy. An early one on a K too. Just out of MoT and it'll probably fail due to the rough running, but fingers crossed. I'll try and get a pre-booked MoT for Wednesday. wuvvum, somewhatfoolish, Skizzer and 26 others

17-Coffees
I did a driveway shuffle today, doesn't sound like much, but to the curtain twicthers at the top of my street ('Im second to top in a Cul De Sac, with mostly over 70's...) its never a good time... The LS started up again no bothers, like clockwork, after recharging the battery at work on Friday night. Moved up and down the street much with no bothers. Honesty think she'd pass an MOT okay once given a proper Italian tune up. (Or would that be Wangan blast?). Sadly due to reasons it'd probably be next year when i get round to testing and (fingers crossed) taxing her. The Abarth, AKA the 'Black Pearl' (As in, 'Curse of the Black Pearl') started with no problems and decided to give it a drive round the estate, first time being properly driven since January. New discs and pads all round is a must, with the front discs being excessively pitted. Sadly an Italian tune up wont solve that...typical. needs a few other things as well, like a windscreen... The golf continues to do what it does, being an car which i can lower the roof come sunny times. Which at the moment I'm using every excuse to drive 'taps aff'. As it stands, Driveway order is (First closest to road): Abarth, Golf, LS and Minor (in Garage) Exciting times head...in a few months. Maybe. dome and RobT

Skizzer
I also gave the Vauxhall 2300S a run for the first time in a while. It was shamefully dusty as I’d been doing woodwork nearby (making a log store out of scrap timber). The period roof rack was actually for carrying stuff, not for hipster retro style points. I’ve taken it off again now. The Victor runs very well these days - ever since I sorted the ignition out it’s been super-reliable and the big slant four is really quite pokey. There, that’s jinxed it for sure. And in case anyone is interested, here’s the new log store - made out of scrap fence posts, a collapsed garden shed and the roof of next door’s demolished extension. davehedgehog31, jumpingjehovahs, mercedade and 24 others

RobT
No it's a flat brown. I forgot to check the paint code so will do that when I'm with the car next. This bootlid pic shows it better.
