The new news 24 thread

Father Ted

Recommended Posts

Me, I’m going through the motions of a divorce, which so far could be a lot worse. Got my head in a much better place. Due to move into a newly purchased house in 2 weeks. Currently in a one bed flat with me on the bottom bunk and the 2 little lads on the top bunk.

Chod wise I’m due to do a swappage of the snot green Vito for a forum bike on Saturday, and collecting a warm British hatch on Sunday.

Verdict- not the way I saw 2019 but things are getting better. Chod therapy weekend ahead basically.

Although I went to the Vauxhall Heritage Centre open day on Sunday, this is the first chance I have had to upload the pictures. Amazed I took so many in the space of two hours (there is a lot there though), starting with this Chevette duo.

The Civic needs to be re-insured after all the mods.

I'm going to take it off the road for a few weeks, as at the beginning of August I won't have to declare a claim made against my mum in 2014 any more, where her old Polo's ABS decided not to work and cracked the bumper on a nearly new Jazz. Naturally the occupants claimed whiplash.
That should soften the blow slightly. It's a telephone job as online is just 'computer says no'. It's frustrating not to use it, but the T5 is more than enough fun.

In other news the 305 has departed northwards.

This page of the News24 thread is already making me very happy. There are loads of old Vauxhalls, HMC is back in a happy(er) place, Cavcraft's 2nd/3rd/4th career is taking off, loserone has a new toy (can't quite tell if he's happy or dismayed in that photo), and the arbiter of good taste in most motoring things RobT is perving over the same nondescript Astravan as me.

I left Mike at Dishforth Interchange on the A1M as we both needed to come up opposite ends of the North East Region. I have since heard the 305 is back home in County Durham.

Don't forget to SORN the Civic, so you don't get an automated fine for having no insurance.

+1 to all of that, especially the bit about HMC.  Top shiter who deserves better things out of life.

The last issue of Retro Japanese goes on sale today. I quit for personal reasons, but the publisher decided to call time on it for commercial reasons. What a three years though. I've loved editing this one. Very grateful to esteemed historic Autoshiters Hirst and RatDat for their contributions to this one. How cool was it that I was able to edit a magazine where I could have a Mitsubishi Colt as the lead image?

It means I'm now officially a full time YouTuber. Which is a bit scary, but also exciting.

If you like, you could buy a copy via the link below. Also, keep an eye out for Retro Cars. It has been comprehensively overhauled into something more akin to Autoshite in print.

Wonder did the o ring pop off behind the flange? I reckon if i take off the bigger bolts and the hose clamp and dipstick i can get the pump out without removing the belt again

So took it all off again, removed the flange the pump bolts onto with the pump this time and made sure it was all tight - I think it was a long bolt at the bottom of the pump that i couldnt see when fixing it all back up and was not closing in fully.

so back on the pump, back on the belt and all others and start her up.

Went first tip as per usual - let her run 20 mins or so topping up the water as it burped out. Rad is getting hot so i am guess its pumping. Around the block. All good.

Needs a a longer spin to see if the temp is being controlled. Cos that is what prompted the pump change, but when i removed it, it seemed fine so, fingers X-ed.
