bramz7
A quick count shows 228 Citroen AX of all models and years taxed. Numbers are dropping rapidly. They're that rare now? Jesus. egg
There are still 3,000 odd ZX's as a comparison (2/3rds SORN mind). What a great car they were. Visas? 20 Taxed, 95 SORN'd. 12 of the overall total are convertibles. We did a good thing.
SiC
Quite an increase in MGB GTs. Actually higher than it was back in 2010. Likewise MGBs has gone up a thousand too. However they have also gone up in value since too! On the E-type, there is more licensed last year than ever before. Infact I'm seeing this on quite a lot of popular 70s British classics. E.g. Triumph Spitfire/Dolomite Sprint/GT6/Stag, Morris Minor, Austin Mini, etc. I guess this blip is to do with the MOT exemption? Also shows Rarity != High Value LightBulbFun
egg
A Mondeo chap has done an analysis of the Mk1 figures. Credit to him, not me. highlights: - There's fewer than 1400 Mk1's taxed- That is less then 0.01% of all Mk1's ever registered in the UK left on the road- Numbers overall have reduced by 12% 2017 to 2018- The most common taxed models, LX, SI and GLX have reduced in number by 25-30%- The rarest models are the 24v Auto and 24v Si Auto jumpingjehovahs

I don't think Minis are going for much more than other cars that they were similarly priced to a few years ago. They are all big money now. Timewaster
Any classic mini in any condition, especially a van, is worth squillions.I don't understand why.Nostalgia innit. Mum / Gran / neighbour had one, had one as a first car, passed my test in one etc.Or for some, XR2 etc was a car they wanted but couldn't afford at the time. People of the age to remember them fondly now have a bit of disposable income and fancy reliving their youth. Scrapped by the thousands so a bit harder to find now. See also Beetles, 2cvs and MK2 Escorts. In 10 years time expect Novas and Saxos to be silly money. 205s heading upwards for XS and GTi models. beko1987
I have a day to myself tomorrow and was going to re time my car up. But driving it this morning after wanging it to lincolnshite and back its maybe mended itself... Its stopped ticketing now, I'm wondering if its stretched itself and gone back into time... It's loud at 80 as I found out yesterday but being an 8v 1.4 it's probably loud anyway at 80... Might attempt the tappets, but if its like this I might just leave it alone and enjoy the sun... mercrocker
Surely the estate version depends on Morris Mini-minor or Austin Se7en/Mini. /pedant Correct! Austins were always marketed as Seven/Mini Countryman, the Morris version was a Traveller. This of course fitted in with existing model names in both ranges. The application of the timber trim, incidentally, was a choice made at the time of ordering and didn't affect the model name. The red estate in the barn confirms its Austin ancestry according to the bonnet badge anyway! Just as there are no more Gaylook Hillman Minxes, I hardly expect MINI will be reviving the Traveller name any time soon! /fellowpedant GrumpiusMaximus, Amishtat, spike60 and 1 other
SiC
With this lovely weather I've been pondering about possibly putting the Boxster up in the garage and bringing the MGB down. If I have it down I'm more likely to want to use it. Also having it swapped that way will force me to have to use it. The drive slopes a bit at the end but I should still be able to work on it if it needs any fettling. This was one of the problems I had with the 1100 in the way. But tbh it shouldn't* need any major remedial work that requires full access to the front of the garage (i.e. engine out). It'll have to wait thought till once I've got the subframe mounts done on the 1100 though. Otherwise it can easily become a distraction from finishing that. catsinthewelder, Six-cylinder and GrumpiusMaximus

Lacquer Peel
Only two blood blisters and various cuts and grazes later I've replaced the discs, wishbones and anti-roll bar links on Miss Peel's Clio. The anti-roll bar links are a really shit design, just a long bolt with rubber spacers and impossible to remove without breaking out the hacksaw. There are four different discs offered for a 2007 Clio DCI and I got the right ones on the third try. It still needs another track rod end, and the seatbelt pre-tensioner connector bypassed for its first UK MOT but it's getting there. Despite it being an LHD import insurance is incredibly cheap so it's worth persisting with even though it's been a bit neglected. It's due a timing belt and I'm tempted to DIY it, you can lock everything with pins like an old XUD, so should be foolproof. Does anyone have a set of 14" Renault hubcaps? The ones on it are aftermarket and knackered. Sigmund Fraud, HMC and Split_Pin
