xtriple
Is yours the V12? If so, that consumption is fantastic! How long have you had it cos 2 grand is cheap for one that looks tidy?
Tadhg Tiogar
If it makes you feel any better my A610 went in for a clutch last year. The final bill afterwards was £7000. To be fair it needed a bit more doing to it than the £3k I had budgeted for. I have not used the car since I put it in the garage on it's return in August last year.... I don't know whether to be relieved or slightly stung that the car passed the MoT before the gearbox failed.

Skizzer
Is yours the V12? If so, that consumption is fantastic! How long have you had it cos 2 grand is cheap for one that looks tidy?I’ve worked it out properly now and it’s actually 18.4mpg. It is a V12, a fairly early (1982) HE. I bought it just over 3 years ago; its own thread is here: http://autoshite.com/topic/21777-skizzers-xj-s/ It had been off the road for a long time so I’ve had to spend a bit on it, to be fair, mainly on freeing off and sorting the brakes, a gearbox actuator, some steering bits and refurbishing the injectors. A more competent DIYer with a lift (and more time) could have done all that themselves though. I did the ignition and headlining myself. Cosmetics-wise and bodywork-wise — er, it’s had a wash with some Autoglym shampoo. Twice, actually, which for me is quite a lot in three years. Split_Pin
That was a great watch! I have several 'lucky bags' in the garage together with random boxes of spares in my lofts for cars I no longer own/ am unlikely to have another. mrbenn

anonymous user
Shock news, B and Q speed bump damages C15 van. I wondered what the hell the noise was, fortunately nothing serious just one of the exhaust hanger rubbers went and the exhaust started hitting underneath making a godawful noise as it vibrated against something solid. A quick cable tie has pulled it back in line, but I must remember to get the new rubber before the cable tie snaps. SierraMikeHotel
I waved goodbye to my moped today. I feel a bit sad because I was really attached to it, but it's only been to the MoT centre for the last few years since I stopped commuting on it. I hope it's as good to Ultrawomble as it was to me. egg
Hawkeyethenoo
Big box of bits arrived today. Rear brakes and tailgait struts. Easy jobs first, so struts fitted replacing the tired originals at a cost of £17. Then went onto clean all the glass inside and treat outside with Rain X. Always a worthwhile job. Then went round oiling bits that move, door handles front screen wiper arms and headlamp wiper arms, mirrors. Mild off-roading the other day showed up a rattle from the front which sounds very much like, anti rollbar drop arm links. Pair of them ordered up to at £35. Plan is to do them at same time as rear brakes. Also purchased a new 4X4 trolley jack as my old yin is tired and will never achieve anything like the height required with this beastie. £81 delivered. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj25-4x4-trolley-jack Craig the Princess, DeeJay, Skizzer and 2 others

This looks like a lovely thing, top buyage to all that have owned it. What it desperately needs is 4 black screw covers, because the screws in the front number plate go through letters, but have white caps! 04CF7453-4728-4CB6-9090-1B2825EA737C.jpeg OCD OVERLOAD!Who goes and puts those white covers on, steps back and thinks to themselves “yes, that is a job well done”. 124AA97F-3D4D-4047-9A0C-6232D485214B.jpeg The rear doesn’t even have any covers!
