SRi05
Showing the Lancer I picked up from here some love recently, put a full set of new tyres on it last week, and two days in my mates unit has sorted out the bodywork. Previous quality* repair How it looks now Pretty happy with how that turned out. Got a mobile mechanic coming out to fit a new sump tomorrow and it's ready for winter. Really good car this, feels well built inside, comfy and quiet. Ride is heavenly given I'm used to the firmness of the Prelude and the 100hp panda before that. Plus it's handy as fuck for chucking things about in. Could be a long termer. Skizzer, drum, spike60 and 3 others

dieselassist
My breaker bar met its end trying to undo a Suzuki Alto hub nut. We undone many a fastener together, he heard many a curse word. Goodnight sweet Prince. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Ive had one bend (at the forked bit) n the axle pin fall out; never seem one fail like this before; I use an old ratchet that has stripped all its inner teeth that ive welded solid on its face for extreme 'abuse' - I also have the bigger 'truck socket set', for hub nuts but the welded ratchet is employed when the set isn't to hand... davehedgehog31

Try taking the motor out and giving it a spin. I did that the other day and it's still working fine. Being VAG, it's probably the exactly same motor and way of removing it (I think it's the same base platform as yours too). Doddle to get out. somewhatfoolish
Off to the States tomorrow morning. We're hiring a car to drive from New York (after a few days in New York) to Washington DC via Philadelphia and Annapolis. Expecting Korean mid-size saloon chod. Will report back.If your experience is anything like mine they'll offer you an upgrade to some bASe detroit chod for $10 a day or something; unfortunately in my case they offered a Jeep Patriot, they are hateful pieces of automotive shit and I regretted accepting it as soon as I drove off. cros
I got this in the post this morning. Its my series 1 speedometer newly recalibrated by Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham. I've put off having it done for years since fitting Range-Rover diffs and managed with numbers stuck on the glass. Then the needle started flopping about a bit so I felt that after 60 years it might need an overhaul and 2 weeks & £72 later here it is. mercrocker, drum, Lacquer Peel and 9 others
xtriple
Used the BBH today, it does drive very nicely for a 33 year old, Hell, I've been out with women younger than that! It does still have a problem or two: the idle is wrong, when started it idles fast then slows (as it should) but only to about 900 rpm. If you turn it off and re-start it, then the idle drops to about 650 rpm and I don't know why. After that restart, it stays at 650 so I think there's something electrical that holds a high idle until the temp goes up but it ain't working. But, the voltmeter, fuel gauge and temperature gauge all work properly, the temperature even seems to get close to the 'N' mark and stays there Squire_Dawson, blakey79, richardmorris and 9 others

Skizzer
Not exactly earth-shaking news, but I’ve pressed the Elite into service as main car for the weekend. Beige cars in the shed: Blue cars at the house: The Lotus is running a treat and handling even better for having plenty of air in the tyres and the NSF wheel bolts tightened up - two of them were very loose. Oops. Lucky I noticed that. Fat_Pirate, dome, Ghosty and 21 others

Skizzer
Still got the Audi I see Skizzer, does it get much use these days?Unfortunately not, cos it still needs a windscreen for MOT. It runs and drives ok on my private test track (pictured) though. I will shortly be renewing attempts to source a screen and get some bugger to actually turn up and fit it. holbeck

MarvinsMom
in preparation for Eddyfest tomorrow, and with the last* of the nice weather we have treated Cocopop to a bit of a service. fresh oil, fresh filter, new plugs and then greased the suspension points... we got this at MiTP especially for this i used to use now't BUT Duckhams when a youngster, that is until it was discontinued. i never liked Castrol, especially in stull like an A-series. Jo who owned Cocopop before i did only used Castrol, and we found the inside of the rockerbox covered in like a slimy emulsion that i put down to the Castrol oil. hence why i would not use Castrol... mucky old oil out old plugs out, but looking pretty good inspite of been in the engine for a number of years. Cocopop is, looking at them plugs running about bob on. now the good stuff in nom, nom, nom..... more please....nom, nom, nom...... and now to see if we make it to Ulverston, we did get home ok and Cocopop is it seams running perfect. oh yes, we also found out from where the engine is leaking oil (what do you espect, its an A-series) and shock, horror, its the gear change oil seal. Again whatcha expect? it is an A-series...... that is a job, for another day Squire_Dawson, LightBulbFun, jollysmart and 1 other
