320touring
I ordered E30 front brake discs from ECP at 1.30am this morning. 11.10am and these are dropped off.. It's only THE RIGHT FUGGIN PART! I hope you were sitting down when you read that.. Their online sale meant the 2 discs (Pagid) were £37. Not too bad. They_all_do_that_sir
The more I look at it I think it looks quite purposeful and ready to get things done. I quite like it. It's actually bloody lovely to drive. The 3cyl diesel is a bit thrashy but likes being revved. You need to give it a good rev to get out of junctions but if you let it spin up from standstill it's nippy enough. Try and take off with a light throttle and it feels like it's in fifth gear..... On the motorway 70mph is 2500rpm in fifth, and it's perfectly happy at that speed. It overtakes well enough too without having to drop down a gear. Naturally it sounds like a cement mixer, but at speed it's very quiet. Surprisingly it handles well, I chucked it into a few corners and it feels composed and safe. Snag list: Vibration over 60mph which feels to me like wheels out of balance. Front tyres are cheap looking winters so I'll get new rubber on ASAP. Drivers wing mirror adjuster isn't.working. Radio reception poor, aerial is present and correct so possibly a loose connection on the head unit. The big one - lack of much history = timing belt roulette. Its a fairly easy looking belt to do, SOHC with plenty of space around the engine (Awaits one of our resident mechs telling me they are a nightmare!)I'll probably DIY it but might ask my mech mate for a price as he will be faster and do it properly Other than that it seems grand. I have brimmed the tank for an OMG MPG report too Sent from my F3211 using Tapatalk Tickman, egg, GrumpiusMaximus and 4 others
Parky
I look at those Roomsters and whilst they aren’t exactly going to impress teenage boys or girls, they do make me think that this is what the Renault 4 could have been if Renault had put it through a couple of facelifts. Small estate, function over form, relatively simple mechanics, and practical. Nowt wrong with that. One of my wife’s friends has one and had absolutely nothing whatsoever to say about it. That’s probably no bad thing, as it means it is doing what it is supposed to do without any fuss. It does look alright from that pez shot angle though! wrenchvolt, GrumpiusMaximus, They_all_do_that_sir and 1 other
GrumpiusMaximus
My Dad was quite disappointed last year when he found out that Skoda weren't making the Roomster any more. He was replacing his Tiguan and wanted something practical and smoller, which the Yeti isn't. Thought the Roomster was a good bet until he realised. Got a Jazz in the end. He is over 60, after all. HillmanImp
Not sure of this has been reported elsewhere but I see that Nissan have stopped making the Puke: https://jalopnik.com/dead-nissan-juke-1827979551 How long before they become Autoshite? The countdown starts now. I reckon it took about 10yrs for the Multipla to be accepted so investing late 2027 will probably due you proud to get ahead of the curve if any of the hateful things last that long......... beko1987, BorniteIdentity and Craig the Princess
GrumpiusMaximus
I've never, ever liked them - especially compounded by some of the terrible driving that was exhibited by some Juke owners thinking they could shit all over the road because of the high driving position. Forgetting that they were under-powered, two-wheel-drive, cheap shitboxes rather than the Range Rover they thought they were. Unfair? Certainly. Stereotyping? Of course. Always hated the Juke. chodweaver, RayMK, oldcars and 1 other

Parky
Like the idea of the Juke, nice interior and the styling is sort of growing on me. Not a brilliant drive though. Had one as a hire car in Germany and it was not the best vehicle for the motorways Fun fun fun on the Autobahn. No, not really, more like “oh shit won’t you go any faster on the Autobahn” wrenchvolt and GrumpiusMaximus
GrumpiusMaximus
At least that has some charm. I know some people like the Juke - but I've never 'got it' and I've never understood crossovers, either. I was never too fond of my Dad's 12-plate Tiguan, either. It was comfortable, well-specced and apparently good to drive but it didn't have that much interior space and was otherwise dull. One of those things I suppose. HillmanImp

AMC Rebel
I liked the Juke for it's different styling - but the cockwomble drivers are putting me off. Top marks to the woman in a Nismo one who appeared along the joining sliproad to the M1 from Trowell services as I was in lane 1 doing about 75 in my Jaaaag. She accelerated like flipppery until she was directly alongside my door handle then speed matched me for a few dozen yards instead of maintaining her furious acceleration, then dropped back and joined the lane about a millimetre from my rear bumper. When the traffic to our right that had prevented me from moving over even if I had wished to had gone, she resumed her furious acceleration and came past me gesticulating wildly and offensively. Shep Shepherd
Discovered this evening that lithium ion car jump starters do work after all, having successfully used the one I keep in The Volvo to start a guy at work's Renault Laguna II diesel, which had a flat battery due to him leaving the headlights on all day. I recommend that you all buy one and keep it in your car and fully charged at all times ^^ BorniteIdentity, Tadhg Tiogar and wrenchvolt

xtriple
Seen some 'epic' driving today, woman in a newish x5 overtook me a couple of times and then I passed her while she was slow/being erratic, of course, she was on her phone. New VW transporter thing sat one inch from my back bumper while I was in a queue of high speed traffic , was very, VERY aggressive and as soon as I could pull over, I did and he shot forward to do exactly the same thing to the guy ahead. Loads of trailers being towed at 80 - 90 mph complete with serious side to side action. Awful. But the old heap of a Merc drove perfectly, seems to do over 30 mpg on a run even at 'decent' cruising speeds and is comfortable (not for me obviously, but then, nothing is) and quiet. I really do quite like it. RayMK, davehedgehog31 and dome

DodgeRover
So the weird electrical problem with the Lexus resolved itself the other day. Im not sure it's even linked to the rain as I've had a car wash and been in heavy rain since. I do recall Neil saying the alarm once in a blue moon would go off. Most likely linked to that. Not sure if I want to waste my money on an auto electrician just yet then, I can't see how they'd be able to diagnose something that's not broken? Can I be first in line when you come to sell this please - hopefully that will be prior to ours needing another MOT..... Slappy
Just sold my first car Fiesta via Faceache marketplace (and also posted on Gumtree). Only had a couple of chancers offering silly amounts and quite a lot of interest generally, which considering my missus thought the thing was only good for the scrapman was decent, so getting £600 having had a clean pass MOT a couple of weeks ago is a pretty chuffing good win. Replacing it a couple of weeks back (I really need to get that pez shot) is a Focus mk2 with a proper arse (of which there are not that many about) that I picked up from my Ms Slappy's parents' neighbours for less than what I received for the Fiesta. Has 100k fewer miles too. Happy days! I had been a bit apprehensive that I would be dealing with so many "swop.4 xbox" wankers, that I would never want to touch an online selling facility again, but in the end it was pretty painless and I'm actually reassured that a good percentage of the inhabitants of these Isles are actually decent people. Also... I've never had this cash to burn thing ever before, need a new bike, laptop and camera though.... wrenchvolt, mrbenn and Stanky
