I had my house contents renewal of the AA this week. £345.00 per year. Rang admiral and got better cover for £103.00. Do I have saved enough to buy a rather nice honda from Cheshire leading used car sales emporium. Bad news is rang to get a quote to insure and £795.00 . Can't do classic. So that's me just running the one car for a while then.

New dmb dealer sticker added! Few air bubbles, because idiot, but still cool for that fake original look!

I'm surprised that bumper hasn't spontaneously shattered into a thousand pieces, or maybe it's just the later ones that seem to do that?

Just on mk2's. Mk1's are just like any other 90s car!

It was giffer owned and probably garaged, now outside all the time...

Just serviced the Saab and noticed its seems to have done 17k since the last service I did. I am absolutely sure I have changed the oil and filter since last June but having checked both the receipts in the folder and even my bank statements from October > February there is no trace of me having bought oil for it. I try and change it every 8-9k so it ought to have been done around the end of last year.

I'm bloody sure I did it, as the service indicator goes off about once every 10k miles and its almost due to start bothering me again. OCD overload.

I did win in ECP parts lotto though today, went in for an air filter, oil filter and 1 litre of their 2 year antifreeze premix, however they screwed it up and gae me a 5 litre bottle of the 5 year stuff instead. the girl on the counter checked the invoice but happily handed it over. 5 litres of coolant for £2.68 after dicount. Thats almost cheaper than tap water.

Not been on for a while. The regular outages were irritating, my wife is still sicking everywhere and work has been MENTAL.

I've been roughly seven weeks without a Volvo on front line duties, so today I did what any right thinking man would do and landed a 2001 automatic S60 T5 SE. It doesn't come with the cherry plate so will be going back onto it's Y-reg shortly. It came with oodles of paperwork, including a 2001-dated printout of it sitting on the forecourt of the same dealer who supplied both my 850S and my 740 Turbo, in 2000 and 1987 respectively... £21,495 sixteen years ago. That looks an absolute peach Andy! That's 2 smart motors you've bought in quick succession! Love little details in the history like the original for sale advert etc. As well

Such a shame JM Group massively downsized and closed a lot of their branches, always liked a swatch in Murray Volvo then further along to AC Mazda and then round the corner to AC Renault, all sadly now gone! Only 1 franchised dealership left in Paisley itself now after the amount of them there used to be for many years!

I think I've decided to sell my 2CV. Trouble is, I have no idea what it's worth. 1975 drumbrake, mainly original or replacement original parts. Galvanised chassis etc. Historic tax class, of course. Supposed to be one of the earliest remaining after import restarted in 74/75.

Plans afoot to replace it with a new project, not sure what but I know the era I'm looking for.

Don't forget you can't mix blue and pink / orange

"Quite a lot" is the answer, I don't think you can get a solid '70s 2CV for under £6K nowadays.

The MGF failed its MOT today.  Not on too much though - the only actual part it needs is a track rod end (ordered off the Bay for £7.66 delivered).  It also failed on insecure battery (cos I r twat and forgot to clamp it), headlight aim (sorted by the garage while it was on the ramp), CO emissions too high (but only 0.35 (limit 0.30) and tester put that down to lack of use so will be getting an Italian tune-up before retest) and PAS light on (but it's never come on before or since so will put that down to a one-off glitch and keep my fingers crossed for the retest).  Then I will be attempting to sell it.

The one I ordered was supposed to be purple and will mix with anything apparently. What I got was pinky orange, the same colour as whats in it currently so I think I'm safe. But thanks for the heads up :)

Car a little low in the back at the tunnel, but there are 18 x6 bottles of wine in the boot, plus kanterbrau and leffe! I don't trust HMG not to cock up and stop free transport of drink!

Did you already have the oil and filter "in stock"?

Non-VVC, cloth interior, slightly-scruffy-but-waterproof hood.  It'll be about 500 quid with a full test.

I'm hoping so, or I paid cash and lost the invoice. I feel like I've neglected the poor thing!

This was earlier yesterday in Calais as I was waiting for restaurant time.

Just drove up as I was there and grandma and two grandchildren ( seemingly) got out.

In general though not a lot of note in Normandy. Lots of xantias with hard spheres bouncing along, lots of 205s about stil, and lots and lots of new peugeots and Dacias. Some new Renault but hardly any new Citroen and no DS range.

I saw one w124 saloon but nothing older merc wise.

Went to How Many Left today.

I didn't get round to meeting kinkersaab, but saw him taking his GSA round the track:

I also got to experience the back seat of a Reliant Robin.

I was also accosted by somebody who said they were on Autoshite, and that he had flown up from Peterborough to take photos for the magazine he works for. Never caught his username on here though!

More photos in my spotting thread later, when I can be arsed uploading them.

Went to a little car show near Lowestoft today, I'd been told it was a nice little village show so was expecting half a dozen Moggy Travellers in a field but when we got there about half 10 and it was pretty busy with loads of cars / bikes etc and by half eleven it was absolutely packed. There was so much traffic trying to get into the village they had to got the local fuzz in to sort it out.

Here's a few pics, it was a pretty random collection of stuff but there was a few corkers.

There's a few familiar cars there in that lot!

Going to find somewhere new for the Sierra because the garage it's in leaks. Badly. "Instant Barn Find" facility could prove lucrative long term though.afdfb2311a6144a66d58f1572cd67281.jpg

I was at a show at Otley College, I'll put up some photos shortly.

The log book has now arrived for the 620, yesterday i had to replace the water pump again as the shitty one from ECP decide to piss water out again which was a right pain and the alternator which is straight under the thermostats got soaking wet and now has a red battery light on all the time when switched off. We think a diode may be faulty now so I'll have to get that repaired. Then it's for sale, if i still have it by shitefest then I'll use it for that. The P6 is still here too even with all the "Thats too cheap etc" comments.

So as mentioned above,I was asked to display a few cars from my car club at the Otley college by my mate who's the lecturer at the motor engineering department for their big day out event, it was a nice day actually, lots of horses and sheep for the misses and kid to look as well as other animals and stuff, a bit of brick laying and tree felling and playing with tractors.

We got around 15 cars or so which wasn't too bad considering there was a few bigger car shows on today and people didn't know what to expect at this one. A few of us even got a VIP tour of the departments workshops, they get a lot of cars donated by public to work on, namely a lot of MGF's and Rover 25's, a few Focus's and a Fiat Stilo, i guess ther was about 20's in storage all to be stripped and rebuilt.

AS for cars, we had these, this Escort is a Cararet with 36000 miles.

This RS Turbo came down from Norfolk, the car in front on the way hit and killed a deer, they ran over it and took off the exhaust and spent a while removing bits of deer from under it.
