Just been down to beaulieu for the spring autojumble. A bit disappointing really- got there at 9.20 and didn't even have to queue from the road, straight in to the first car park on the left. Then met by police who warned of pickpocket gangs operating!

Definitely smaller than it has been in May and fewer visitors too. All I really wanted was to buy/ order a proper carcover for the fiat, but there wasn't a single company there selling, which there has been other times.

There was a nice w124 coupe for sale in the lot area, but a 230 and he wanted nearly £6k. 126kmiles and No air con either.

In the end I bought a bit of rubber piping, some autoglym and a second hand dyane indicator switch for the 2cv. (They're metal not plastic). Nice weather though.

This steering wheel was wonky on the P6, could i get it off the shaft, leaving the nut finger tight just on the end of the thread? No. Could i get a puller on it by removing the nut and pissing about with some bolts for 30 minutes on said puller? No. Could i pull it off with one final tug whilst still having the nut of the shaft? Yes.

I've now got a lump on the side of my temple and a still wonky steering wheel...

I did that while removing a Fiat Uno steering wheel to fix a broken steering lock, all I could hear when I came round after bouncing it off my nose was the old man pissin himself laughing.

Filled the management's S90 up with diesel today when a blue 1500 Dolly pulled up, sounded epic and looked careworn but looked after, chatted with the owner and his wife, they are off to the south of France in it next week.

Down in Sidmouth today to see my parents - went down in the Smart. Really need to get the tracking done, as the slightly angled wheel really annoys me when cruising.

Spotted this lovely Morris on the high street. Very much a do not paint job.

Never take the nut off - schoolboy error that is

At Basingstoke Transport festival I saw 2 blokes having an actual punch up, and later saw 2 couples screaming at each other with the 2 blokes squaring up.

Not a good day for shows maybe...

There's your problem.

The only good thing about Basingstoke is that the train to London is a lot cheaper than going from Newbury station.

Not a lot of auld tat, for such a nice day, army green Avenger 4door 'Lreg' and a Marcos 'Jreg'.

There was a visible police presence at beaulieu which I've never seen before.

Lots of tempting cars for sale x300 ? Daimler with 37,000 miles at £3995 looked new. I am sure a lot of the traders of junk never actually sell it as I've seen some of the same "rare and valuable" junk year in year out. The only thing that grabbed my eye was a theodolite type lamp (old one not modern) but it was about £500!

A set of what looked perfect Mercedes AMG wheels was £500 but while I would have paid £s for an original style set in the same condition they didn't have any. Also wished I'd kept the boxes for my corgi collections!

I like the post, not the fact that you were stuck for hours in an iveco. But hey, at least they didn't try and setup an iveco relay race and dump you at a couple of service stations on the way - when my mates van packed in it took 4 or 5 trucks to get him back from Malvern to Rotherham because for whatever reason, none of the recovery trucks wanted to do more than 60 miles.

i think i passed you  - edit - ian - on saturday - somewhere between shifnal and hereford?

also passed thru teh village the bus was in while they were loading :D

Yesterday, I made the mistake of attempting a long journey in a nice car. It didn't end well. However, I did manage to grab this rather pleasant shot!

The day quickly got worse.

Three-hours in an Iveco. Nice.

It was nice to get back into the 2CV.

Got home ten hours after initially braking down, completely knackered.

What was wrong with the jag?

Loss of all electrics, which was fun in the right hand lane, then when we finally got them back, the fuel pump wouldn't play ball. The RAC man gave up at this point. Am I right in thinking they have a tinkering time limit. Or was it just dinner time?

I left Crickhowell at about quarter to one, and broke down on the A449 about half an hour later...

Coast-bound A2 spot of the day - only a bloomin' Suzuki SC100/Whizzkid. X reg orange colour - boy they are a smoll car! Tried a wave but driver concentrating hard.

New Fusion back box goes on tomorrow - it's £85 from my local independent tyre/exhaust place which sounds fair enough. Exhaust is all original Ford at the mo - middle section is also not great apparently - but they'd probably not want to do the middle as it's too much of a faff  . Nice people though and pretty straight down the line.

While underneath they noted my local mechanic had left a socket attached to my sump plug as well.

All good fun...

I'm running this Fusion 'til it dies now - on 110k so we'll see if clutch failure or HGF gets it first!

Admitted defeat today and booked the Fiesta in at the garage down the road for its new water pump fitting.

I'm absolutely paranoid about breaking it so I thought sod it send it to the people with an unbelievable amount of tools and a lift.

Its going on Wednesday, my birthday so I hope it actually stops the over heating.

Got a pal's wedding Saturday in Surrey and a few fellow guests who share the groom's perversion for motahs will be turning up in old crates of varying degrees of mingness - assuming everything makes it there will be pre war Rileys, MGBs, a Cortina Mk1, old 911, a Capri or two and my austin.

I gave the A35 a bit of a spring clean as after non-stop dailying duties it was rocking the "kept going on a giro cheque circa 1983" look and I'm quite surprised how well it has come up. I even cleaned the chrome which made me feel like I should join the Owners MG Club.

(others out of shot)

Great evening... Sunday mostly a write off... by 9pm I was desperate for some grub so fucked the M25 off and went for some dinner.

The A35 as always behaved itself but I let it down, after a stonker drive down Friday night I arrived at the inlaws and backed into a high kerb knocking the silencer off the main pipe. Quick fix at work this evening.

Blimey don't see many of those Series 2? LR FCs, they make 101s seem dead common.

Because I'm utterly stupid, I'm eyeing up a car for sale, with OMG HGF, in Middlesex. Driving home in it might be considered a bit too risky, so I'm wondering if folk know of a friendly garage that could undertake the work. Any recommendations?

Which part of middlesex (that doesn't really exist anymore)? If it's near to me, my local garage may be able to help but round here prices can get tasty.

Fusion has it's new back box on and they replaced a screw on the heat shield too. Brand is euroflo, any good?
