Schaefft
Loving the LHS, Galant and Senator! What on earth (beyond that) is a Windom?JDM variant of the Lexus ES. davocano and vulgalour
vulgalour
Thank you. Is it just a rebadge or did they mess with the proportions of it too? I seem to recall some JDM versions of cars are narrower than EU and US versions because Japan.
davocano
Caught a glimpse of white + unpainted bumper and thought "povvo"; was not disappointed to find a Sandero Access. Not povvo but unusual to see a black cab in white. This Mazda Tribute also belongs in the "cars you've never heard of until recently" thread; bumper and door trims are a FABULOUS shade of something. Future 'shite? Huge underbite and 1.3TD auto suggests this might be so. I've seen purple Fiesta and purple Ka but never purple Mondeo until now. A most unexpected and pleasing spot Pt 1. Five seconds after taking this shot, the owner appeared and drove off with some gusto. davocano
Poggy 618i Darth Vader's Fleshlight™ Nissan Old B.O.B. (pls iMDB "The Black Hole" for clarification and interpretation of my SciFi brainworm). I've posted this before but it's a regular spot and I heart it. One owner from new and I'll try to get a shot of the interior if I bump into said owner again. Always nice to see a Capri that isn't a 2.8 Injection. Not a taxi anymore. Yes, that is an elephant on the bonnet there. michael t, LT84, danthecapriman and 3 others

I seem to recall some JDM versions of cars are narrower than EU and US versions because Japan. As far as I know the Windom was always the same car with different badges and RHD around that time. Since Toyota (and most other manufacturers) sold both US and Japanese market cars all in the same country, there was most likely a very similar car in their lineup that was aiming at the same customer but had smaller engines and proportions. davocano
davocano
Three spots on the last day of August; first, a Dyane that I last and first spotted in September last year. It's up there first on page 4 or thereabouts. A very old fella was driving this, I wonder if he's owned it from new. About as bASe as the Mk3 ever got; a 1.4 Ryder. danthecapriman, RobT, LT84 and 2 others

davocano
It's that Acclaim again, this time from the rear. Volvo 9-series wagon owners appear to love their car boot sales. Not all of them obvs 'cos the car parks would be full of Volvo 9-series wagons. This one is a 2.5 My mission is to photograph every Space Wagon in the London area. This is number four!!!1! Vauxhall Ampera; are these interesting? For me, the word "Hybrid" is synonymous with the word "Prius". These petrol "i"s are very appealing. Well the idea of them is at least. Not a Daihatsu Sirion; this is a Toyota Passo. Fitted with auto 'box and a funky dash-mounted shifter. LT84, vulgalour and RobT
davocano
Walton Bridge Breakfast Club: according to the Kiwi owner, this is the only Aussie Chrysler Valiant of this variant in the UK. I'm hoping that MorrisItalSLX will let me know if it's a CH or a CJ (I think it's a CH). Not OSF'd Escort van. Metro HLE with fabulous grille. My first car was a quad-lamp 1500 Avenger and if I were Jesus, perhaps I may have wept. Ooof. Very brown interior also. vulgalour, danthecapriman, mercrocker and 3 others
davocano
Parked up against the wall so no full frontal; Opel Mantas are hard to spot outside of the shows. Not sure what kind of "metropolitan bubble" I may or may not be living in but I haven't seen a (presumably TWOC'd and) burned machine for a long long time. A biggun this; maxi-scooter of some sort then. Previously, the most recent one was this Chevy Caprice in 2006. And there was this potato-cam shot of a Renault 19, also in 2006. Way way back in 1989 I stumbled across this sorry thing (1100 bASe!) in the car park of Crowthorne railway station; michael t, danthecapriman, Skizzer and 3 others

Edit: according to my research it is a CJ as it is on a 1975 P reg, CJs being built between April 1973 and September 1975. davocano
davocano
^ Pretty sure the guy said this was built in '73 which was the year the CH became the CJ. I'll go with CJ and blame you if that's wrong
davocano
Got a bit sidetracked by the leprechaun that tells me to burn things [/ralphwiggum] Smiley Transit on an L-plate. Love the door handles on these. Also the externalised sliding door. 40 years of Fiat 500 evolution; it's gotten big and fat in its later years [/icanrelatetothat] Not just any 323F, this is a GT with 1.8 DOHC powers. Got some evils from a dude when I was looking at this; probs thought I was gonna TWOC it. A backstage scene from the canned film "Carry On BL". Hot and bored Babs Windsor type drives about in her MG inviting lewd comments from Robin Askwith types while aging husband Sid James type lumbers around in the Morris beasting over Babs Windsor types [/tripping] mercrocker, danthecapriman, michael t and 4 others
davocano
Nissan Largo; cooler* brother of the Serena. I would remove that number plate and stick an enormous cigarette in there. We need more purple on the roads. Heath Robinson is alive and well. E34s are becoming scarce nowadays. Runout model Cavalier Classic. Odd proportions because Daihatsu? Quite like. jumpingjehovahs, vulgalour, mercrocker and 3 others

This is number four!!! sep003.jpg...If you come up to Edgware, Mill Hill, Finchley, Hendon, Golders Green, you'll see quite a few Space Wagons, because this is Little Israel, and the Orthodox like their people carriers and 4x4s. Just don't get in their way when it's getting close to sunset on Friday, as they may run you over as if you're not there. 500tops
davocano
Silver Shadows aren't that easy to spot nowadays; have a Corniche floppytop. P6s are still around and about though. You'll thank me when they're all gone. These too. These ARE nearly all gone. Don't thank me, I'm just doing my job. I do like to see really old motors parked up on High Streets. davocano
Crikey has it been that long? I had to dig this thread out of page 7. Perhaps I shoulda left it there; nowt very exciting to add right now. Another Fast French of the 1.6 persuasion so not the Fastest. Looking at the decal I thought this might be a Fast Fiat but it's actually a mere Pop. WINZ Another little Fiat; alloy wheels suggest sporty but it's nearer the bASe end of the spec spectrum On the subject of alloy wheels, any ideas as to where these might have originated from? A re-spot that hasn't moved since last year and is slowly fading away. Another re-spot, this time with a 2-wheel companion. Bangernomics Astra of the 3-door persuasion. It's an LX but lack of side trims look factory not-fitted-from. ProgRocker, LT84, danthecapriman and 3 others
davocano
Found a road with a bunch of Volvo 3-series on it. Oooh. It's a Chevy Malibu but I initially thought it was a Daewoo Matiz. True story. A fucked Caddy STS. Nearby, a fucked XJS. Nearby, an unidentified fucked heap that I couldn't photograph because reasons. Must go back and record. Fast* Metro* (114 GTa) Highlight of the month. Comedy number plate is a questionable bonus. Gawd knows how long this has been languishing here; genuine patina FTW. There was another Beetle adjacent but no photo 'cos appalling light. I shall return. The guy also owns this beautiful heap. Tidy looking Rover. davocano
First seen last year; recent and unfortunate accident damage may result in the demise of a rare-ish Legacy. MOT'd 'til Feb so still some distance left to run. A pair of maroon Rovers. What a roof rack. Were these ever common? With a view to buying, in 96 I looked at a 93 with 86 on the clock and 5995 on the price tag. Avoided. Battered Escort trying to maintain some Finesse. Early Ghia; undented but tatty. 9-Series employed as a bird lavatory amongst other things. The car boot vendors often turn up in something interesting, very hard to get a decent photo of them nearly all the time.
