Back home and all good! This weekend the old Sherpa has covered 1020 miles without missing a beat, all towing a trailer and all but 278 with a car on. All whilst returning 28mpg. Delighted with that. That is nearly 1500 miles since collecting it. I can see it getting a lot of use. Thanks to @Tommyboy12 for putting it on here, and if you could let Tony know his dads old van is still going strong I would appreciate it.

Time for an update. Since arriving back with the 95 project I have spent a week on the Shropshire canal with family (a great way to waste a week), spent far too much time at the hospital for blood lettings etc and sold one of the longest serving members of the fleet (the Rover P5b). The Rover was collected yesterday and I normally I would say that frees up a space but the Saab has already filled it.

Today, of course, I was offered another project which offers superb value and is a car I would very much like, having had a few before, but none as good as this one. I have spent the day trying to justify it to myself, but ultimately I would have to sell the Saab to make space and time so I have decided against it. The good news is I am going to give you lot a chance to own it, so I will be putting an advert together next. I am a slow typer so give me a bit of time then check the classifieds. I stress I am not making anything off this, just passing the opportunity on. The seller is a good friend and a retired tractor mechanic.

So the car? A 1970 Triumph Vittesse Mk2 2 litre convertible, with a genuine and documented 12 thousand miles from new! Full details in the advert shortly, located near Worksop/Sheffield and here is a taster

If it hadn't been for you I doubt the Manta would have even been painted by now so even if the next one has been dragged out a field it'll get done 👍

One project back on the road after 14 years in a barn! Drives great. Will put a few more miles on it to make sure all is OK then a new set of tyres and some paintwork by @GingerNuttz will see it finished, then no doubt sold

I am currently house sitting for a friend in Perth. This means I have access to his workshop, but all my projects are 70 miles away. This was deliberate as the constant hospital appointments are taking a toll so I thought a complete break would be good for me. This worked for the first week or two, especially as I was commuting home every couple of days due to the sudden death of my neighbour. Now I am getting bored, the TV is still rubbish  

So I have spent the last 2 days giving the daily driver (the ex @jonathan_dyane Saab 9-5 a compound and polish. I have to say that for 20 years old and just about to clock up 194k miles, it doesn't look bad. Tomorrow I may start on the interior.....

 Yep.  This is my daily driver and one of the newest on the fleet so must be modern.

Normal is 50s to 80s (the majority of the fleet), Bentley, most of the Saabs etc

Old - Pre war, Royces, Cowley etc.

My old S211 is the same age and at 192k a parts car for the year older S211 I now daily, the Saab is shinier than both of mine put together! Looks longer in the photos too. 🙂

Good job you typed this! In my mind I knew the MOT is due November, but that is at the end of the year and it is still summer(ish). This propmpted me to check and sure enough due at the beginning of November. Oh, that is 3 weeks away  The only trouble with a fleet is it is almost always MOT time.

This weekend I am planning a collection run with the Disco, but the week after that I am taking the 9-5 to Northampton for a week, the week after  I am going to the NEC and then on to France, so prep for MOT has limited time. Today I fitted the new exhaust that came with the car and whilst it was on the ramp did an oil and filter change.

Tomorrow it has to provide transport for a funeral, so will continue later in the week. No photos as I left the phone in the car and that was up in the air!

Yes, took a couple of hours but it was a surprisingly good fit. Quiet and no rattles or knocks so very happy.

A lot of miles this weekend, all in the old Disco and trailer, the Disco clocked up 125k this morning. Before setting off I checked the tyre pressures putting 70psi in the trailer tyres. By the time I got to collect the Invacar, about 15 miles away, one of the trailer tyres was flat. One of the chineseum valves had perished which of course means the others probably are not far behind. Decided to just fit the spare and pretend everything was all right.

Left  Stonehaven and headed down to the borders where the night was spent in a Days Inn. Clean, comfortable and good value

Friday morning it was off to the FOD to drop off REV

After a mini meet with a few shiters it was off to Cherwell Valley for a meet up with my brother and SIL and a night in a bargain Travelodge, also comfortable, clean and quiet.

Saturday it was over to the Classic Motor Hub (worth a visit) at Cirencester for the Saab Owners Club AGM after which it was up to Sheffield for some serious R&R which may or may not have involved beers.

This morning the Triumph Vitesse was loaded after putting a new valve in the flat tyre and refitting it to the trailer and returning the spare to its spare position.

Left at midday and was home by 8pm after another trouble free run.

That sounds like a satisfying trip! Hope the Vitesse doesn't turn out to be too rotten.
