barrett
Yo, Anyone North of the Border near Errol? Fancy having a butchers at this on my behalf?http://stock.morrisleslie.com/stock/details?reg=VWS779J Buckley reckons its probably fucked, but the pics don't really give much away. Mechanical condition not too important, but galloping rot obviously a big negative. Anyone? Heidel_Kakao and Lacquer Peel

Tickman
If you have any specific areas to look at let me know. Just incase there are any hidden bits that really need checked.
BavarianRetro
I think that has been through before? A pal of mine is breaking one if you need bits?
kinkersaab
I had a sit in it last time round. I am a good pal of the owner, i shall ask about it if you like. John F
barrett
If you have any specific areas to look at let me know. Just incase there are any hidden bits that really need checked. I think they go 'everywhere', but specifically sills, front valance, inner wings etc. If you could get lots and lots of photos of any crusty areas that would be good. As said, the mechanics don't bother me as it'll either be fine or totally fucked, in which case you chuck in a rebuilt 'off the shelf' engine, but if it's rotten then things start getting expensive... CreepingJesus
Looks like the one that was tucked up in a showroom in Kirkcaldy years ago. Apparently it was an ornament cos the engine had gone, and the details on the ownership match the last time I saw it. If it is - and that's a big if - the bodywork was pretty good. barrett
I've found some photos from the last time it went through - crustier than it looks here, but possibly not beyond hope. Really do need somebody to get underneath and check the sills out. Doors all look knackered but that's an easy replacement. Already got my eye on a good running engine for not much money, maybe a set of doors too...

barrett
That's second-hand info from his RO80 man, but that's the same guy that reckons you can't get a good one for less than £15k - and just happens to have one for sale for £15k, etc. It doesn't look like its gone in any of the really serious areas - inner wings and strut tops look good, tops of the front slam panel and valance seem tidy. We'll see. Lacquer Peel

DodgyBastard
I've seen it when it was in the dealership in Kirkcaldy, I bought an air compressor from the owner. He said he was a lada dealer at one point. I didn't get a good look at it, it was tucked away in the corner. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk CreepingJesus

Asimo
Most of these have a sunroof, the drains go into the sills.....Mine had rot in the rear chassis rails and boot floor, and the battery tray. But that was 30 years ago! ***If you do get one, I have the factory repair manual.
barrett
Lack of sunroof is a major selling point for this one, although I suspect the sills might still have had it...
Tickman
Well Friday arrived and I set off to Errol to have a look, I wandered around the nice shiny cars looking for it and saw some very nice cars. Also saw this. What were they thinking.Anyway the no doubt expensive corner. That is more like it. I got to the car. **Disclaimer time** 1. I have never seen one of these before and know nothing about them or their value.2. I have been known to have rose tinted spectacles.3. It was parked up next to the jet was so despite being under cover the ground was not only soaked but covered in oily shite. First impressions, the car looked alright from a distance (see excuse number 2 above) But I had a closer look. Front passenger floor had these books on it as well as the mold from the damp. Front passenger door (as with all the doors) is needing work at the bottom. Lower hinge pin is fucked. (Door needs lifted to close) Back passenger door. Passenger side of the boot (where the rear arch comes down behind the wheel) Driver's side the same but the spare was in the way. Rear driver's door. Rear driver's side footwell had a lake and fungus. Drivers door. View along the driver's side, neither of these doors appear to close fully, could just be adjustment. More coming, just posting so I don't loose the lot. drum, Lacquer Peel, anonymous user and 1 other
Tickman
The outside of the driver's side rear door. The sill end looks to have had filler and is bubbling up. But didn't look too bad. Passenger side. Rear door passenger side And front door Drivers side front arch/valance joint Rear of the arch Decent sized scrape in the wing Still more on route. Tickman
Driver's door top. Rear one the same side, this appears to have rust starting at the chrome piece. Back window on the passenger side. Rear quarter window. Front valance from one side And from the other Drivers door card, the top bit is loose and the lock button brocken. Drivers seat split or torn in two places. The tires are best described as what was around to be fitted, the passenger front is flat and the driver front looks like it should be for an offroader. Under the bonnet looks quite tidy with regards to the metalwork but the front brakes have no pads and the piston's cable tied in place (not very well) Little bit more to come. Tickman
I am assuming by now you will have made up your mind, a few more pictures coming up. If I had bought it and it turned up at mine I wouldn't be kicking myself stupid, the bits underneath didn't seem to be falling apart, chassis rails appeared to still be box shaped and from what I could see (because I couldn't get to them) just surface rust but I would guess it is one of those sell it now or open your wallet situations. There is no battery in the engine bay so obviously nothing system wise could be tested. That is basically all that I could get. **Important note, I have bought absolutely hanging pieces of junk in the past so my opinion might* not be worth much! somewhatfoolish, Lacquer Peel and Skizzer

barrett
Thank you so much for taking the time out to do this! Tickman
No problem, glad I could help* My phone seems to have eaten the picture of the boot floor which has a hole on the passenger side, the rest is covered by the sound deadening. It also has a towbar bolted to it.
