It won't get regular use, but took the kids to the park with everyone in the van last night

Duster drove us 1487 miles to Normandy for a week's camping followed by a Gite in Brittany.

Averaged 44.3 MPG despite driving at the speed limit, with a huge tent and glamping kit, eight bikes on the way there and a full alcohol quota on the way back (and still six bikes).

It's now on 43k miles and we love it, though we will probably need something bigger in 3/4 years when the sprogs have longer legs.

Not so many from Normandy as we were in a quieter place and mostly mountain biking through the forest.

Only slight fuck on was parking for the (shit, don't bother) aquarium in Saint Marlo.  It was like the Arndale on a Saturday afternoon, ended up having to detach the trailer and chock it's wheels with sticks and leaves in a nearby space.

About the only place we went to with other English people, the staff were shocked and pleased when we spoke in (shit) french and said most of the English people they see are very rude.

Fuck tourists, as usual.

Had the Zoë out for a trip out today.  ABRP reckoned we'd need a 5 minute rapid charge to get home but managed fine.

One good thing. You have a spare wheel.

Too many cars do not have it now but it should have been required by law to have one.

Makes me want to get on for the Zoë which was 100m behind when I picked this up

Two brand new Dacia steel wheels on the way.  I'm going to try and build up a set or two since the 16" steels could go on both of the moderns.

Also, big props to KwikFit Consett who forgot to charge for the puncture repair but like biscuits.

That's a nice new set of Goodyear Vector allseason G3s on the Zoë, so technically matching tyres with the Duster.  Kept the rear two Michelins and will try to get one onto a Duster steel wheel this weekend.

I did about 200 miles in the Zoë last Saturday, and one thing I did notice is that people pull out in front of it. ALL THE TIME.  I actually passed one guy at 75 within 10 yards of him joining the road as I could see it was clear and had been anticipating him doing it.

Wondering what I could do to the front to make it a bit more...  Aggressive?  The last car I had which was like this was a K11 Micra..

Need to figure out rapid inflation

The damage on the rim was pre-existing, it's a bit of an experiment

Fire extinguisher. Find an old water fire extinguisher, people give them away for free.

Discharge the water, cut the end off the hose and bodge in a Schrader valve off a bike inner tube.

You can then use a foot pump, bike pump etc to pressurise the vessel (normally they have a pressure gauge too which helps) and to inflate your tyre I used a jubilee clip to seal* it over the tyre valve as best as possible.

Remove the core obvs otherwise all that pressure you just spent 20min and 300 calories pumping into the fire extinguisher will just leak out everywhere.

Oooh I like that idea.  I have a few kicking about just in case, though they're power.

I'm borrowing back my old compressor from @Jimbob McGregor tomorrow but I'll keep an eye out and do that cause it'll be useful for tubeless on my bike too

Thought I'd give it a go, it's just a bit of exercise innit.

Got a valve core in and sealed before it dropped below 12 psi.

Bit of action for the fleet over the last couple of days.

Saturday picked up some bales of straw

No pics but I had to reverse 50m of single track because the woman coming the other way couldn't reverse.  Here's 3/4 of the load being re-enacted, the eldest can get down the whole lane backwards but he's not reliant on his mirrors.PXL_20241027_111929738.thumb.jpg.6861dcf1d897f10abc4ff3f3fc8ecda5.jpg

Then on Sunday @Lacquer Peel and @jaypee kindly fitted the remaining tyre to the express.

You're both sacked, there's a bit of wobble at 85.

Zoë took @320touring to @Jim Bell's place to collect @davehedgehog31's new German convertible.

Yesterday we grabbed a couple of bags of logs

@cort16 this you?

I assume the space designation is relating to mental health.
