mercrocker
Quick fleet review.... Broken..... How? Some of these are leaking.... Van? Merc? One in storage, one out with Mrs Rocker - empty street. OK, what about Cowley? Splendidly well-timed bodywork renovation.... Well then..... These boots are made for walking. But only to collect. mercrocker
Sadly, those boots not crocodile, but I have seriously bought footwear that cost more than this Fester....£375. Not that cheap for an old Ford but no collection cost! Edit - I wish it was actually a 375 but the days of cheap Consuls long gone! Supernaut
£375 for a tidy looking wee car with 10 months' MOT and alloy wheels? We truly do live in a golden age of shite. mercrocker and strangeangel

danthecapriman
Bleedin' Ghia anawl! These are great little cars despite their tendency to rot. We've had a few, 1.3 base in silver which was a right little warrior! It looked awful towards the end but it just kept going and going despite having the shit kicked out of it by my sister for years. The only irritation was the heater valve kept getting stuck on. Cheap to replace though. The other was a 1.4 Ghia in metallic black which was a really lovely looking car and was fast as fuck!Never had any bother from either but rust claimed the Ghia in the end, the base was getting bad so we MOT'd it and sold it on. Replaced by a 54 reg (mk6) 1.25 which is still good but not as good as these older ones. Anyway, great buy! Looks in really good nik. mercrocker and Joloke

mercrocker
Does it have rot? One advisory a year or two back but there has been a £20 welding bill since then.....Bit of scab upper face of n/s sill near A post, hasn't gone through so looks like water ingress.Should buzz back to metal hopefully! Arches bubbly - ton of crud inside each one to clear tomorrow. Why don't people ever clean up under there? Nice, is the rear screen cracked or is it just the photos? Nah, those are my lecky wires! Small dent in the hatch itself, though... Mmmmm, is that steering wheel as sticky as it looks? I wouldn't lick it....Vulgalouring will occur. oldcars

sierraman
I had one of these, absolute hoot to drive with the revvy little 1.25 engine.
Lord Sterling
Sweet, I like these, they feel oddly very well made and solid. I taught a mate of mine once to drive in one of these, he bought it (he has a driveway, lucky sod) and asked me to teach him to pass the driving test, which he did! mercrocker
SiC
These and the previous generation was the standard issue banger that I grew up with and learnt to drive on. My driving instructor had one in a 1.8D. The memories of it was how slow and unrefined lump of an engine. Mates 1.25 examples were much better and surprisingly fun to drive. Incredibly rev happy engines. mercrocker
Niffleman
I have owned a couple of these, a 1.25 and a 1.4. Both were dark red and both were excellent. I would have another, no worries.
