Dollywobbler's Invacar - Roadtrip 2!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for sharing that, really interesting to see.  Definitely looking to get a new set of pulleys for TPA with a view to refurbishing the ones currently in use.

Thanks for being so complimentary of TPA too...

Had to laugh when you hit the queue on the A422 on the way onto the A5 from Buckingham...that bit always gets choked up.

Really appreciate you taking the time to edit it all together into one video that flows well...that must have taken nearly as long as the driving.

that was truly epic to watch :)

thank you for the awesome video content and keep up the good work :)

im very happy to see TWC running properly finally, and that she handles London traffic pretty well

(especially as thats what I will have to deal with in my own future Model 70!)

Really enjoyed the video today.  Makes me wonder what is next for TWC? I may rewatch later to see if you mentioned anything :)

im not sure what he plans trips wise

but he mentioned a page back or 2 that he plans to go over TWCs suspension and other mechanical bits, as the engine is leaking a bit of oil, and the dampers are not really damping anymore, oh and obviously have a look at the diff at some point I imagine!

I vote he gets low rider suspension from that chap he visited.

oh thats very cool! you dont happen to have a link to the video do you? :)

also an SPU-K Invacar Model 70, bloody hell thats an early Model 70, do you know that ones reg? its even older then TWC!

(Stuart wanted me to try and find the VIN number of  an SPU-K car, but sadly the examples he gave me had not survived until 2001, so I was not able to look it up, however I was able bash the DVLA checker a while back and pulled up SPU860K which survived until 2004! and grab its chassis number, so then its just a case of walking backwards or forwards to figure out the other SPU-Ks chassis number :) )

its also the first time I have seen a picture of a K reg Invacar Model 70 aside from TWC, so also the first time I have seen an Invacar Model 70 on white on black plates :)

(up until now I have just seen a few AC Model 70 examples on white on black plates)

Had an offer for the Rocket 88 that I couldn't refuse..........that, along with the fact that, great car that it was, I was aware that there wasn't much I could do to it to make it mine...............

Woke up this morning, had a little time before I had to leave the house for work, had a quick look at what’s new for sale on Retro Rides and saw an ad for a W124 200E manual, located 15 miles from home. I had no intention of buying a car today but I had to have it! I called the seller and arranged a viewing.

      Faults:

2 x rusty front wings (TADTS)
      1 x rusty rear arch
      Needs a polish
Tracking is out because new track rod end was fitted for MoT
      Engine has oil leak/s

      Good points:

      It’s a W124 200E!
      5 speed manual transmission
      New clutch
      Brand new MoT
      Superb MoT history
4 x as new Continental tyres
Last owner for 15 years, her husband before that for 4 years
      Very tidy MB-Tex interior
      Drives well
      All electrics work

The dealer kindly delivered the car to my house but I managed a pez station shot on route:

      Plans:

Remove front wings, cut away rust and apply plenty of wob.
In-situ similar repair for rear arch
      Clean and polish
      Service engine
      Adjust tracking
Leave patina and enjoy the car as it is

      Greetings all.

After lurking here for a short while, frankly liking what I see and enjoying the various shite, the site has well and truly struck a chord with me. I'm a serial buyer of ropey sub £1k vehicles, don't have to but genuinely enjoy it.

I've been posting across the web on owner specific forums (Usually using either my JoeyEunos or RandomPrecion handles) for a while now, but from here-on-in I will pull my threads together and merge them here into one ghastly topic.
