tooSavvy
The 'highway in the sky' French motorway bridge (beloved of base jumpers everywhere) employs a man to climb up inside the pylon towers... I think he checks visually some $hite. There is a Utoob... I can't find it ATM. TS
plasticvandan
Reading one of the old books ive got on Fred, one of which he wrote back in the early eighties, the reason he doesnt hold the rungs was the simple reason that if the rung comes out in your hand your heading for the ground. Arthur Foxhake
You never let go of the sides of the ladder when climbing that way, using the rungs you let go with one hand and if you mis-grip it or the rung fails, you are in the shit. sal
i climb ladders often at work and was trained to always hold the rounds (rungs) and use left hand left foot / right hand right foot technique. Only exception is on fixed ladders, particularly in sewers, where you hold the strings (sides) as rats have a habit of pissing on the rounds.
