Dave_Q
C1 has got to be easier/cheaper than class C as they generally put you in a LWB 5 ton sprinter type thing for C1, class C is in a grown ups lorry.
Crackers
He did say he wants to buy a Volvo F10 eventually which would need the full on C license. Also worth having should anything ever go tits up. LightBulbFun and Heidel_Kakao
Heidel_Kakao
Already ordered the forms from the DVLA to apply for my provisional C entitlement, as Cobbler says I hope to own a classic HGV at some point and the training is another employable skill in case I need a different career option, I need to pass a medical obviously, pass theory test and then take full length five day or so C course. That will all take a few weeks and while the Roadrunner doesn't have to be moved immediately I don't want to take the piss. So will probably get a mate with C1 entitlement to drive it home via an MOT in about two weeks time. Not even sure where it's going to live yet. Minor problems haha. You can. As long as it's not hire/reward/professional driving, you can drive up to 7.5 tonnes in exactly the same way as you would anything else. barefoot

AnthonyG
I assume Bateille did the truck stunt in Ronin, there’s a bit when an old 1960’s Daf goes on two wheels for a bit before taking out a Talbot Horizon and a Mk3 Escort. I have a stack of 1980s ‘Truck’ magazines, will see if I can find any Roadrunner articles. There’s definitely one with a ‘spy shot’ on the front cover. Yeah I can't see that kind of prize competition happening nowadays. The handbrake turn is super cool and I will hopefully try that at least. Not sure about driving it on two wheels yet haha. wuvvum
Handbrake turns can be awkward on HGVs as on some of them the parking brake operates on all the wheels. I forget whether the Roadrunner does or not - I never tried a handbrake turn in mine... Heidel_Kakao

TBH it's not worth doing just C1 any more, but go straight to C. I was one of the last to get 7.5 with my car license (August 1996). A lot of haulers (well, where I live) are replacing their 7.5s with 10-12 tonne vehicles because younger drivers are just going straight to class 2. The cost isn't much more going to category C and if you fancy getting something even bigger as a plaything you can, plus if you're ever out of work there are plenty of driving jobs through agencies. Re: CPC &c. If you are using a vehicle over 3.5t GWV for your own personal use i.e. a camper van, as long as you hold the correct license, all you need are MoT, tax and insurance. No tachograph, no driving regulations, no O-license and no CPC are required. If you transport vehicles there's a little bit of a grey area as you may be subject to at least domestic driving rules if it's your own vehicles you are transporting. You certainly do need CPC, O-licence and tachograph if you are moving another person's vehicle (even if not for reward). If you know anyone who does club racing and uses a converted horse box or coach it might be worth asking them for advice. Heidel_Kakao
Heidel_Kakao
The Roadrunner is being collected on the 6th of June 😀 I cannot wait, like a kid at Christmas haha. I couldn't stand the China special mechless head unit and generic speakers in the Dispatch. So I robbed the Alpine from the 940 which I really like and has proper buttons. I also have a pair of Alpine speakers to fit. Should sound pretty good then. gadgetgricey, puddlethumper, LightBulbFun and 2 others
Popular Post Heidel_Kakao
Stalwart MK2 Road Registered with HI AB £12,750 plus vat (tanks-alot.co.uk) So yesterday was probably the most exciting day of my life! Even more exciting than the day I collected Cedric from Finland believe it or not. I put down a deposit and am now the proud owner of GVO 282J a Mk2 Alvis Stalwart. I have always wanted one of these and now I have one! It has the crane too which according to Nick at Tank's a Lot where I have purchased it from, only 100 Stolly's out of approx 1400 total production had the crane. It also crucially is road registered so I will be able to drive it to work at least once haha. Number fans will notice that like Cedric (VOD 686J) it has a palindrome of 282 and is also like Cedric 50 years old and on a J plate. I have two months to pay the balance and collect it, I will need to buy another truck to transport it with so I will have at least three trucks as you do. Isn't depreciation a wonderful thing lol. https://fb.watch/5yQfwZXirJ/ It's moving in the video above, I drove it myself afterwards 😅 Watch this space swimming truck fans privatewire, Andyrew, crad and 64 others 65

So I will go from 4MPG on petrol to say 8 on diesel but that will be 8MPG on chip fat...... It's MOT and tax exempt and I have already secured somewhere to keep and drive it free of charge. I already have 10KG of Mig wire on 5KG rolls so that will last me a while haha, just need to buy some sheet steel. Also spoiler alert, Nick sold three Stalwarts to Marvel where they will be appearing in Black Widow later this year. So I will own a Hollywood blockbuster featured vehicle for about half the price of a new BMW 1 Series. Heidel_Kakao
Once I install the K60 engine which actually makes 240 which is 20BHP more than the B81 at 220BHP. https://www.google.com/amp/s/ralphhosier.wordpress.com/2011/06/10/opposed-pistons/amp/ I will be will be needing a lot of oil. A lot of oil, many gallons. "The remarkable thing about the K60 engine is the types of fuel it uses, basically almost anything that catches fire, diesel, kerosene, JP4 jet fuel and petrol with and octane rating of less than 80." So I am starting a collection drive for anything combustible fitting the description above. All deposits received small and large, please give generously as the more we gather the longer you can all have a go in it for. And it will it will make sea trips with up to 40 passengers at a time free from a fuel cost standpoint. mitsisigma01, LightBulbFun, Skizzer and 5 others
