Nope not at all. I don't have a rev counter (yet!)  so don't know what RPM"s it was doing but the engine was quiet* (as quiet as a an XUD derived engine can ever be) and wind noise was louder, I still could hear the stereo fine at VMAX.

One of a shit load of vans I've had for work. Throttle pedal is really a noise modulation pedal. Good old bus though

It's a mobile breakdown lol. Got it going again after pumping the priming bulb a few times. Someone from the FOD is bringing me a can of diesel as the light is now on. Think it's just crap from the tank blocking the filter. I will brim the tank once I get to Buckingham Tesco.

I'd get a fuel filter ordered at ecp Buckingham (check the box before you leave the shop) and Wang it in at the FoD to be sure

When I had veg related fuel delivery issues it was just like I'd turned the key to off the way it shut down. Keeping the revs really high kept it going, built up more fuel pressure although junctions and red lights were awful being manual

So when I  finally got to the FOD I realised I had lost my sunglasses and they were most likely on the side of the M40 where I had failed to proceed earlier. So I just went back to look for them and found them 😀 They are genuine Rayban Aviators with a blue tint and I have had them about a decade so didn't want to buy new ones if I could avoid it.

Might have another go at deep cleaning the interior but that's about the only thing I am going to do to it.

I lied. I need to turbo XUD swap the van within the next two years to make it veg friendly 😀 Going to drive to Finland for a mates 30th birthday (he doesn't like flying) and I need to collect Cedric's spare bonnet and doors from Jani.

So I am looking out for a Synergie or 806 as a donor vehicle. If anyone has one or sees one for sale let me know please  😀

Done over 500 miles in this since Saturday and I bloody love it 😀

Van's nickname is now Stormtrooper because I think it looks a bit like one of their helmets.

Yes I have mismatched wheels on the Sportcross because the front LM's need tyres and I actually quite like the drift look.

Got this fully bushed subframe for the Sportcross. Also got spare half shafts, spare open diff and he threw in a brand new pair of rear discs that he had just taken off a breaker.

It's powered currently by a non turbo Cummins B series engine but we may have to sort him out some forced induction at some point.

You may well be wondering why I have bought a truck and specifically a Roadrunner.... well it's because of the adverts below!

If that isn't a good enough reason to buy a truck I don't know what is haha.

Bloody hell! I didn't expect that.

Yup I was watching that last night. Can't wait to do it for real 😀I drove it round the sellers yard at least lol.

Engine fired up instantly from stone cold with no smoke. There was a receipt for the front brakes being rebuilt as that is what it last failed the MOT on. Air system seemed fine. Interior is complete. Chassis seemed solid. Tyres seemed good.

It didn't stink of horse piss to all those doubters out there lol. As to what I am going to use it for.... Car transport. If it does 20MPG carrying Cedric it's still more economical than driving Cedric at 16MPG.

Mine is already white so I just need to get these decals reproduced.

Just remembered I have this Leyland promotional book. I will have to photograph the whole thing. The white beauty above is just a taster lol. My late Father worked for Land Rover for 30+ years.

He helped design the R380 gearbox, got a patent for the J gate transmission selector and later on sold K series engine's to the Russians.

As a child I only knew British Leyland. My Mother had a B reg Mini called Willy as in will it start today or not. We had a white 7 seater Montego Countryman 1.6 for a while.

A super cool bright yellow Metro GTA that was stolen off our driveway and wrapped around a lamp post halfway down the street.

A whole string of Defender's, Discovery's, Range Rover's, Rover 800's, Rover 214SEI in BRG, Rover 25 bubble. Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat, Rover 600, Rover 400.

I learnt to drive sitting on my dad's lap in a Discovery 300TDI aged 8 just doing the steering. By age 12 I  was borrowing the keys to a different Discovery (he changed company cars every 6 months) while my parents were in the Three Rocks Inn at Ladram Bay holiday park where we had a static caravan and driving around in a 300TDI ES with the decent stereo and CD changer listening to the Clash Combat Rock at full blast.

I once took it off roading in the camping field, now at age 12 I already knew how to engage low range and central diff lock but what I didn't yet realise is how much a tow hitch affects the rear departure angle and effectively becomes a plough lol.

My Dad caught me the next morning by the shower blocks trying to wash the mud of it before he noticed. He didn't even say anything, he wasn't mad lol, he just gave me a look haha.

I owned that Allegro.

So basically apart from the fact it can be driven on two wheels I am very happy to own a Leyland product once again 😀

I could fill a whole thread with Land Rover stories lol. I did my Work Experience at Solihull, we used to go on holiday to Eastnor Castle! Being driven around and driving around the legit Land Rover test facility. Going down the through the Bomb Hole and down huge concrete steps.

My Dad once "borrowed" a brand new Warn Winch from work for towing our boat out the sea and never gave it back.

20210306_145856.thumb.jpg.b846601507e157b33a8f8f9aa8d38e7a.jpg

My Dad stole those Land Rover and Austin Rover crates off the production line. He used to just wander down the line helping himself to handfuls of bolt's or whatever he fancied.

Let me if you want more Land Rover tales lol.

Cool stuff, I'd be interested in seeing more of that book.

My Dad worked for Leyland Motors (later Leyland Trucks) & I remember the T45 Roadtrain  & later the Roadrunner being launched. The T45 in particular was some truck & Leyland had high hopes..

I had a big poster/brochure on my wall as a kid of the Roadrunner doing its 2 wheel stunt. Even as a kid it seemed an odd thing to get a truck to do !
