1992 Citroen BX TZD Turbo - Sussex

Alright, I really need to simplify my life and get rid of some cars that are sitting around festering. I bought this BX off Jackytwoshoes last year and ran it as my daily until a couple of months ago. It's been pretty damn good actually - I've had the brake doseur replaced and a few return pipes sorted so it's all leak-free. Also a new alternator, new windscreen, excellent recent tyres etc

Sadly it is quite rusty and will need a fair bit of welding - back ends of both sills, corners of the boot floor - for an MoT. The ABS light stays on, too, but other than that it's probably fine for a test. The engine is knackered, frankly, but it keeps on going and seems pretty unbreakable. I'm certain you will find other areas of rust if you start poking around.

Realistically it's a great source of spares, or a project for somebody who can do the work themselves. I can't, and I can't afford to pay somebody else to do it when I have loads of other cars all needing money spent on them. I've C+P'd my carandclassic ad below which should answer most questions.

Price is £150 with shiter's discount, the car is in RH12 3SA and will drive to a rebooked MoT if you put some air in the tyres. Pics taken a couple of days ago.

No MoT - For spares or recommissioning.

Body: Externally pretty good. Some lacquer peel on roof and tailgate, but all panels straight and rust-free apart from the rear arches. Typical stone chips and marks as expected on a high mileage car. Sadly, the car will need quite extensive welding to pass an MoT. The back corners of both sills have had it, and the rear corners of the floor have rotten through. The passenger door hinge is going but the driver’s side is fine. There is bubbling around the windscreen on the top corners. The rear suspension mounting points all look sound, and overall it’s not too bad for a BX.

Interior: Nice condition, some minor marks to the seats but no rips or damage. Glovebox stays closed, all the electric windows work. Carpets and headliner in good condition. Fitted with a very good CD/stereo unit with good quality speakers in the doors and back. Speedo doesn’t work, but the rev counter does.

Mechanics: The engine is very high mileage, even by XUD standards, and is pretty tired. The odometer hasn’t turned for a while, but is stuck on 247,000 – I would probably add another 10-15k to that to get a more accurate figure. It’s rattly and noisy and it’s down on power, but seems pretty unburstable and I would have every faith in it getting me to the highlands and back with no trouble. The suspension works as it should and it rides nicely. No creaks from the adjusters. The rear arm bearings seem good – it’s certainly not splayed. The ABS light comes on and stays on. I have recently spent about £500 on this car, including having a second-hand doseur and some new return pipes fitted so it is now 100% lhm leak-free. The windscreen is probably 1000 miles old. Tyres are Michelin Energy Savers all round, and two are very recent.

In summary, it is not the best BX in the world but it’s certainly not the worst. It’s more realistically fit for spares, but it could be put back on the road if you’re a competent welder. Also available a large quantity of BX spares, mostly body panels and trim parts. Also two other complete BX hatchbacks.

PLEASE NOTE - I'm keeping the wheel trims, sorry!

So, yeah. It's an old BX but it's the cheapest BX out there at the moment and one with 'known' faults rather than a totally unknown quantity. No offers or insults, please.
