pogweasel
LOOK AT THIS!!! I'd love to roll around in this, puffing on rollies, having a big scruffy beard and dressing in the style of "Mr Twit". For a bit, anyway.

pogweasel
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bedford-Vauxhall- ... 0198882361 Here's a later take on a similar concept to the Commer. My dad drove one of these for a bit, it was truly awful. Again, to be driven whilst in "Mr Twit" outfit of bad wooly pully, roll-up, unkempt beard and hair. Actually, a look that my father is quite partial to.

Actually, a look that my father is quite partial to. Does he keep monkeys in a cage in the garden, and paint glue onto the branches of the tree so they can make bird pie?P.S. Own up, who didn’t trim everything off after the item number in their eBay link, so making this go super wide format?...

wuvvum
Oops, just seen the ad. So it is a camper, but it'd be easy to convert back to a panel van. Two and a half grand is a little over the top though.

mouseflakes
Shit the bed! It was recently inspected by Andrew Thorogood Restorations for the purposes of recommissioning the car. Over a 3 hour test it was discovered that there were no major mechanical issues that would prevent the car being roadworthy. The structural issues are that the front off-side suspension strut is corroded as is the nearside rear floor pan.Inspected by an Alfa specialist (I think?) - you'd really want to be sure they also have plenty of R16 knowledge / experience before considering this appraisal of the rot as being exhaustive. Not that I'm saying the inspector doesn't know their onions (they must be used to rust dealing with Alfas!) - just need to be sure they know all the many weaknesses of an R16 shell and have checked them all on this car!! Having said that - good to see a sensible start price and no reserve - realistic seller I'd say.
Ratdat
Damnation, a TS is precisely the 16 I want but that looks a bit too rusty for my likeing. I'd happily trade the 15 for a 16 as it was what I wanted in the first place.
Guest
That beige Celica is a bit tasty, it has a chocolate brown dashboard too. But check this out: That's right, the legendary Ripspeed DRIFT POWER HANDLE! I'm sure that turned out to be an absolute drift weapon with the autobox and 100hp SOHC 21R engine..... perhaps that's why it has a dent in the wing (not pictured). pogweasel
LOL. RWD, DRFT, YO, NOT AE86.When will it end? I'd love to see some of these wannabes when they discover that their new retro hardcore drift machine turns out to be an underpowered granny chariot. Or better still, the ones who buy old jap tat which isn't even capable of tyte driftin yo.

pandamonium
Funnily enough, I have one of those drift handles somewhere. I bought it for my Samara as I suffer from arthritis and the steering was bloody heavy. Plus it had a tiny steering wheel making it worse. Im no DRIFTA tho! pogweasel
I had one on my Land Rover SII. When coupled with the appallingly sloppy steering it made progress entertaining. It was at least useful when trying to manouver the thing in and out of my drive, which was a 5-point-turn-affair when the neighbours parked directly opposite. Still a nice-looking car though - I love the bizarre rear lights.

That sounds rather a lot to me for an early '80s two-litre.They're 100hp-ish, no idea where he's getting the 142hp figure from, probably the GT version which had an 18R-G with 140hp-ish as far as I'm aware. His is the ST version, aka the slow one.
