Ratdat
Oh no no no! It's very dangerous to my overdraught and the chances of a indulgent christmas that that Simca is not far away from me:? That's one car high on my list of must haves at some point. I'd like to see it first had though as the rust in the door and bumper are a bit concerning. Mr_Bo11ox
FUCKING BOLLOCKS I have just won this for £46. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250186822434Picked this up last night and A-framed it back from Oxford. It is in remarkable condition for a £46, 20-yr old Subaru. Its had just two little bits of welding on the rear of the sills, apart from that it is untouched structurally. Paint is 100% original. Thereis some grot on the front wheelarches which is annoying but other than that the body is amazingly sound. It has a noisy tappet, a rattle in the front suspension and a slippy clutch, but none of that should be too hard to fix. It is very posh inside with velour seats, central locking, eleccy windows and so on, not like the basic farmer-spec specials I remember. Headlining is a bit saggy. It is lovely to drive like they always are, light steering, perky engine, nice driving position, good suspension travel. I'm very pleased with it. I will try and rustle up some pics later. Luckily its in fuggin cornwall so it doesnt matter to me!I seem to remember that Princess calipers are used on 2 litre stock cars amongst others, Escort rwd track drift etc. :roll:They are probably like 10" wheel mini front calipers. Milford Cubicle
I think they might be factory-made, or there's a factory in Japan converting them, because they're quite numerous.

Guest
They're a kit in Japan, there's also less-popular (but much better looking) 70s American van style fronts. Subaru made a "Classic" version of the Atrai with round headlights like that and lots of plastic chrome. I believe the kits are just an adaptated version of that front-end and that you can get the kits as standalone or buy one already made up like that. I would guess there are bodyshops there that specialize in "making" them too. What is funny is that the vans themselves are relatively worthless and ten-a-penny in Japan. A 1991 Sambar in Japan would probably be given away for free without the bodykit on and all the supposedly mad stuff like aircon, 4WD, turbos etc. are pretty commonplace features. I would bet that they got it for something like £500, even then only because someone might have wanted the bodykit to put on a newer one.I'd love to be one of the people who arranges stuff like this to be imported, sounds like not a great deal of work for big profit if you know what you are doing! There is a similar thing happening with Daihatsu Midget IIs, random kei-cars and Nissan Figaros (though the Figaros are worth a bit more than the rest). Doesn't matter if it cost them barely more than the costs for shipping/registering it here, as 90% of the punters don't know that!
