Ebay tat

Fuck me, that's comically bad.Still, I'd like to see what happens when that motorbike exhaust gets too hot and touches the side.

Methinks it would get really comical if the stove inside got real hot and set fire to the woodwork only a few inches from it :lol:And what about the gas cooker in a wooden bench, that would add the flavour of scorched timber to every meal

I think that shows the Mk1 Escort in all it's glory - what a lovely design it was.

agreed that it does show the car off very well, The Doctor does seem to know how to pre pair a car

But at the same time it shows the total craziness over the price of Ford Escorts... here is a similar sort of car to the Escort for sale that might reach 1500-2000 but only if its lucky!! Go figure?????

Did someone call a doctor?Nice, but how fucking much??

Not a fucking lot at the moment - bidded to £11500.Whilst that would buy you a quarter of a house, an entire new Fiesta, or lots of slave labour, it's nowhere near what I think it'll bid to.Hats off to the doctor for not starting it at 30k or something and actually using eBay properly.

Sadly if it doesn't sell we will be using it for the £2000 government grant towards a brand new car

Bastards.
The people selling that are not totally dissimilar to the keyboard Conan/internet warrior type. Buy my car or I'll scrap it. Fuck it, I wouldn't bid on that out of principle even if I wanted it badly.

I would like it, quite badly, but even the most hardcore Datsun perv is unlikely to hand over £2k, so doomed to the crusher. Makes me so angry, here's a car that has been cherished over 30 years by proper owners, only for some smug twunt to crush it just so they can get £2000 off a Kia Picanto. Moronic.

I see this Cortina about a lot at the car shows i go to, He's had to up for £2000 but it seems the starting price is £1500.

Wasn't the car used to advertise Adrian Flux Insurance for a bit?

That's simple. Escort is fun to drive, Viva is a Vauxhall. I wouldn't pay £1.50 for the best Viva ever made (Unless it was Bertha), but £10k for a perfect Mk1 Escort thats done bugger all mileage is almost explainable.

My Escort Sport will owe me over £3k by the time it's sorted.

But in all honesty is the Escort ten grand better/more fun to drive? I'd say not. In fact as nice as it is (and I'd love to own it) I honestly doubt it's ten grand better/more fun to drive than any car.Is it worth ten large or more? No. No average family car of that age or era ever is imho.To me a similar Viva is worth about £800 tops and the Escort two large at best purely for collectable (investment) purposes.

I know Mk1 escorts generally belong in the inaccurately-titled 'ebay bargains' thread, but this is giving me a mega-chubby.

This is back on again.

Still causing me distress...

Seller is asking £3k but I know will take £2700.

I wants it alot!!!

Problem #1 is that because I haven't been paid in full yet, that might upset things elsewhere and problem #2 is that at £2700, which is not alot for a very snazzy Mk1, it's still moar than we paid for 'Er Indoors ford focus, and there's not a snowflake in hells chance of defeating female rationality: costs more, can be used less, ergo a waste of money. Asshats

Chevettes are EXCELLENT, super nice to drive. I have never experienced an 1100 escort, though my old 1300 one would lick along nicely enough, you could rumble along the motorway at 70-80 mph without fuss. On the subject of Viva's I saw a minty HB 4-door today in Luton - and it was an original Luton reg'd car - and piloted by a young lady. Not quick enough with the phonecam though. Bums.

To me upwards of 10 grand for any boggo saloon car of that age regardless of whether it's an Escort or otherwise, even with a tiny mileage is bloody barmy. I'd much rather spend 2k on something nice and enjoy using it more. More money than sense. So it's an Escort Mk1, big deal. Are they really that good? I like them in the same way I like a lot of other cars in passing but what is the attraction that causes this frenzy (aside from stripping it to go rallying)?

Lets face it, that escort is a museum/show piece, I don't think even the Irish would strip that out and spank it round a forest stage.

And as far as the escort prices go, its all abit silly as Im sure you've noticed.

Tell me, which part of this is worth a G?

And for the record, I'd love a Viva/Marina/Avenger/Ital

The Escort is very very nice but prices are just crazy now arnt they which is why alot of ford fans are turning to the mk1 fiesta, ive had mine since 04 and prices are going up everyweek for good cars/parts so my advice is if you see cheap mk1 fiesta` buy em up and wait a couple of years or so then £££££

Prices for almost every classic seems to rising especially early Fords , Ebay is a wonderfull way of getting bits etc but it does seem to have pushed prices up on most classic parts and cars ,This is how it seems to work , two people bid frantically for that rare bit , price goes through the roof , someone watching it thinks , hay ive got one of those , starting bid price close to the last ones selling price , another bidding war and so it goes on . blah blah blah . I could be wrong but being into Hillman Imps ive seen prices rocket up in the last few years for any sporty bits that fit them , got them initially as they were cheap tat , not cheap no more .

1100 Escorts aren't wonderful as they're morbidly slow, but I really, really can't abide Chevettes or Vivas. A well sorted Avenger can be fun, I know a chap who dropped Lotus Sunbeam running gear into an Avenger Estate he used as his service car on rallies. That thing was bloody good fun.
