from a different seller? Cos this one seems to think that something like the £600 you bid would be offensive to him? He says he knows he'll take a hit but he paid £850 for it & has spent loads on it, so what is he wanting for it? Wassit worth?? :? Mr Bol had one of these didn't he, how much did he let it go for?Think I'd rather have a V8 which is like one of these but taken to the next level! 8)

Yep it's a different seller, the guy I was dealing with was in Leeds/Bradford.Looks like this chap spent a lot on the injection/idle system, so the previous guy saying it was just an intermittant fault was probably blagging. These seem to be basically a 100 with a detuned UR quattro engine. Although I recon this being front wheel drive could be rather interesting in the torque steer dept.Ideally I'd love to get a 200 Quattro Avant, but IIRC they only sold a few in the UK. Bond used one in one af the films.. Cant remember which.I did ask Mr B about his when I was looking at this. Think his suffered with minor electrical maladies.I looked at a V8 a few years back, for sale in Crewe. It all seemed a bit Americanised, chintzy chrome on the switches etc. Guess that was the market it was aimed at anyway. In my heart I would probably have opted for a Thema 8.32 instead, as they are about the same money. But my head would have probably have gone for an A8.
A8 or V8 ?

Doesn't look to bad for the £300 BIN price with T+T, 1.6 Ghia as well.

Couldn't get a Mk3 now two reasonably priced ones come along at once! Tempted to put a bid in on the gold one..... steering wheel or not!

A8, as they are pretty bargainous, especially the 2.8. Although the aluminium bodywork is horrifically expensive to repair allegedly. The spots on the Escort are defo aftermatket, or possibly from Fords 'RS' accessories range. I seem to remember them in a brochure I had years ago.

What spec is it with the built in spot lamps?

The spotlamps and grille are an aftermarket kit, you could buy them for various cars in the 1980s. I bought an R9 with one and the grille was appallingly poor quality, I don't think it even had any slats. Looking at that Escort I think its grille is equally rubbish.

Have we had this straight looking Renault 20 yet? Must be a while since one of these appeared on eBay?

Proper nice that is. And the owner's name is Cyril too, what more could you ask?
I used to live near a Austin Rover dealer called Cyril J Deal but they have now sadly dropped the first name and are now called Deal's of Kelvedon and specialists in Protons, It's a sad world.

I have my eye on one at the plant yard at me storage. By no means mint but tidy. It's out of T&T now so they are thinking of getting rid, might go for it now. I know this one is mint, but even if it's only worth a third of this one, it's got to worth my making them an offer!

That looks like my next car! Well it would be if it wasn't a bag of sand! What happened to these cars being 3 or 400 quid!? Those Renault 18s recently went for a sensible price, this is being very optimistic surely? I know R20s were more expensive than the smaller Renaults when new but surely that doesn't apply in later years, in fact often bigger cars are cheaper because they become less desirable!

I agree, but I would prefer a Mk3, as it covers all of the 80s instead of just the second half. A white one would make a good dog van! I have even thought of backdating a Mk4 to a Mk3, but it's not just a bolt off thing, I would need a whole front end too, bonnet, wings, lights, bumpers ect.... Now is a very good time to pick up Mk3 escorts, before the scene tax tide catches up with them!

I remember the chap in the unit next to the bodyshop i worked in had a Mk 3 Escort van.It was a Mint B reg which was repainted in Rosso Red, had 7 Spoke RS Allys, Spot lights and full XR3i Interior, Suspension and Engine. It really looked good and i always had my eye on it, Even drove it once and it was lovely, Was a well looked after tidy van.He use to A frame cars about with it had done over 150k with the XR3i engine fitted he told me.Sadly when i last saw it about 4 years ago it was sitting buried under a pile of junk in his yard looking sorry for it's self.
