Mr_Bo11ox
This 'X-reg' Maxi looks a fair bit older than 1982 to me, and DVLA show no records of it!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1981-AUSTIN-MORRIS-MAXI-2-1750-L-BEIGE-Austin-Allegro_W0QQitemZ250443492281
pogweasel
Wierd. Certainly not a Maxi II - I am certain they didn't come in those colours even if the trim has been swapped - anyone remember the blatant MAXI II purporting to be from 1973 a few months back? Maybe this is the ringer in the other direction....

Guest
Imported from elsewhere e.g. Eire and given the current year mark? This used to happen before 1983. DVLA probably didnt used to record the year of manufacture accurately when doing this
pogweasel
Still doesn't explain why it's pegged as a Maxi II though.
KruJoe
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yuejin-Xinkai-2-5 ... mobiles_UK?Yuejin Xinkai 2.5 Petrol Price: £4,495.00 That 'looks' identical to those Thai built Isuzu D-Max (or that's what they're called in Thailand). "Rodeo" here? Googled the name, found the brochure here. With a powerful licensed Toyota 2.4L petrol / LPG engine, ... the Yuejin XKprovides the tools to get the job done. Based on Japanesetechnology and built to European quality standards in China, the Yuejin XK surpasses its peers by setting a new low price...OK then... I guess this is a Chinese rip off (not a lisenced copy) the way they did with the Daihatsu Terios but didn't admit it. Then as a second kick in the balls to Isuzu (Toyota's biggest rival in the Asian truck market) they stuck a real Toyota lump in it! Oh those zany socialist entrepreneurs crack me up. Guest
Sounds like it was something agreed with the previous seller, but it seems doubtful that they'd be able to do anything about it. Looks alright, like a Daewoolet Lacetti! Typical badging system in the corner, I love how most Chinese cars are named like industrial air conditioning units, it's all "BaoLu BA3150" and "Chongshen 533-PF" etc. Still looking forward to all these Chinese imports to hit the market, for every toss-looking supermini there's a smart-looking Hirst Cabs 4-door. Come on China, pull your finger out!

MrRegieRitmo
red ford badges! Remember when that was all the rage (about 15 years ago)I haven't seen one on a car for years... can you not sand the blue off modern ones then? I did mine black for some reason.Yeah, I have memories of seeing red ones, never understood why though! What was it all about? I sometimes see Saabs with red badges too, saw a 9-5 with one on the way back from Bromley yesterday - what gives??

Just visible are the orange towing eye, half-orange wiper arms and orange "RS" stickers on the wings and you cant see the orange oil filter, HT leads and rocker cover. Never did apply the 6mm orange pinstripe I bought though I blame Fast Ford magazine
