Mr_Bo11ox
Theyre amazing those little whizzers, i'm surprised they dont have more of a following as theyre a great package. If you accept only having 2 seats they are a mega practical little car, fast and easy to drive with a comfy, un-cramped driving position. You can get plenty of shopping/sacks of rubble on the rear bench and you can even tank them up the motorway at 80 no problem getting 40-odd mpg. Canny rust prone like but then they are nearly 30 yrs old and Japanese.

Nissan engine is unlikely to ever give much trouble though. So far i've done about 6k miles in my V6 Dci and not had any bother from it at all. I especially love that he's gone to the trouble of lowering it, but done nothing else - not even swapped the radio or steering wheel.

Father Ted
Doh! Sorry I am not into this lowering thing, so no idea exactly how you do it. Or why.....Why??? Hmm, some people think it makes the car look better, meaner, handles better on cornering that sort of thing. Personally I think you need a lobotomy to think that it looks good. Hmm, some people think it makes the car look better, meaner, handles better on cornering that sort of thing. Personally I think you need a lobotomy to think that it looks good.Lowering a van just makes it look overloaded! Unless you are prepared to go the whole nine yards, with custom paint and ally wheels. A rat look lowered van is not a good prospect, it just attracts the plod. Remember these are built as load carriers, so if it's not obvious what's in the back, seeing an older van on it's arse will just make the plod think 'overloaded'. Aside form that, de cambering leaf springs is not a good idea. I do up, long, and wide, I don't do down, short or low....

Pillock
I quite like the look of the Escort as-is. It's not unreversible mods and I'm glad he's not gone 'zany' on it and rattlecanned it matt black or anything, but it just looks a little different. Guest
Would surely have more selling appeal if it wasnt lowered though? It makes me wonder how else it has previously been mucked about with - for all we know it couldve been running 17inch rims and a MEGA BASS souns system last week. OK thats a little judgemental but I have to say I always prefer something that looks as much as possible like its definitely been left alone. Also, taking 60mil' outa the ride height probably doesnt do certain suspension bushes any favours on an old fwd Escort.
Mr_Bo11ox
It lokos pretty mint and unmolested to me, I wouldnt kick it out of bed. I would put the suspension back to normal like but I bet standard springs for those only cost about £8 or summat.
gallondrunk
Personally I think it looks quite nice as it is. I'd return it to stock if they broke, but it looks quite nice combined with steel rims.It could be worse, it could have had 60mm lopped off the original shocks. Yay for unpredictable spring rates

Just needs the 'M' badges pulling off, and the lips polishing up on the rather tasty 'style 5' BMW BBS alloys its wearing. Buy it. The alloys alone are worth the money. Mash
That Mk3 Ezz is a nice one but I too think it needs putting back to stock. I suspect a half arsed XR3i replica was in the offing.Lowering is all very well but it depends on the car, most manufacturers do it all for you in the design so you don't have to mess about. I remember a garage mate of mine had a Corsa in for MOT and it was on it's belly almost. He said is was virtually undrivable. Surely suspension movement is a good thing in an ordinary car?On the other hand I will concede certain cars benefit. Take the Datsun Violet coupe for instance. For a car with sporting pretensions it sits far too high as Ratdat will testify, but if the car looks right and handles respectably for a family chugger, leave it well alone and go and buy a sports model!
