seth
That is actually super cool! Having its original stut tops I suspect the rest of the car isn't plated to hell either so definitely a restorable proposition I'd have thought.

pogweasel
Wow an 850, bet that's quick.Hey, don't be dissing the 850!I had an 850 mini once, it was pretty quick. Up to 40 mph, anyway, afterwhich it was pointless. It was the biggest shitter you have ever seen too, faded red & grey primer on white wellerZ. Stylin. garycox
My aunt had an 850 Auto, that was scarily slow I remember she once tried to overtake a bus up a slight hill and it started to slow down when we were nearly past it, just as some cars started to come the other way...I didn't go in it after that. Richard
I saw a programme about it on the TV. Somebody, who might have been a former Jaguar MD, had bought Reliant and was full of big plans. He changed the car's name back to Robin because he reckoned everybody calls them that anyway. From memory they cost £10k so they weren't exactly fighting the customers off with a shitty stick. AnthonyG
GAH! Look at the sheer beauty of this!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HILLMAN-AVENGER-ESTATE-1600-BLUE_W0QQitemZ170309383529 I can only begin to imagine the sheer depression I would feel after 4 solid weeks of evenings welding plates into this old heap! Looks lovely though.I know that car, its a shitheap as you would expect, but the worse bit is the lucky buyer will have to extract it from the worst part of Newport, which is a bit like saying the worst part of Somalia. The guy's into old televisions, and I have given him some old sets in the past. The two times I dropped off stuff there, there was heavy police presence and a heavily vandalised car in evidence . Seriously, this estate makes the 'Shameless' one look like South Kensington. I did not let my car out of my sight, and will never go there again. wuvvum
No ebay but anciennes.net. This R16 looks pretty damned nice for 750 euros and it's a stones throw from Calais too... It looks nice but it's got a burnt out valve and is running on 3 so would be a trailer job (or A frame I suppose). How easy is it to get hold of R16 mechanical bits over here? Ratdat
Oily bits shouldn't be an issue. If it's running it'd probably make it back on three okay I'd imagine.

r.welfare
So we've had Fieros, MR2s, and even Metro-based "things" that are meant to look like Audi TTs, so what can we bastardise next? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-406-Based-Kit-Car_W0QQitemZ270356072067 Underneath all of that is a 406 coupe. What do we think of the proportions? They don't seem a million miles away to me. Shame that the original bodywork looks better, IMHO. Almost had me fooled with that steering wheel, yeah a lot of those 360s have minicab interiors don't they?
