what's with cars with MOT's going for less than scrap(under£150) ?

Perhaps some folks just like to see something than can be used being used rather than destroyed? I'd give away an old car to someone who can do something with it (drive it, do it up, break for spares, race it) rather than have the scrap value for it to be crushed.Probably explains why I'm still poor.

Some people probably believe that they'd still have to pay to have their car taken away for them; it isn't hard to imagine that there ARE members of the public who don't watch scrap metal prices as closely as some of us might!

A few more 11th hour bargains to be had here...

The price of scrap has fallen again. Our local yard is advertising at £130 driven in or £100 collected, and I believe it's actually down to £110 driven in. I think it was £220 driven in a few months ago. What Mouseflakes says is true too. I would rather let a car go for scrap value or even less just to see it put to good use. Funnily enough I'm still poor too.

That's not bad, I was quoted £85/ton today driven in!

Q. Are these any good?

I know the 'official line' is that these are poo compared to the classic shape 900.... but from where I am sat 215bhp for less than £800 is pretty tempting.

They're not that bad at all. I've had a couple (non-turbo) and they've been fine. Not got quite the same hewn-from-granite feel as the Classics, and don't handle as well either, but they seem to hold together better than the 9-5s. Avoid the Sensonic like the plague and you should be OK.

The 17 is an example of one of those ebay cars i feel bad about advertising too much - by displaying it on AS - just in case theres somebody on here wanting to buy it who doesn't want too much competition on the bidding front.

Wuvvum -we've similar taste! if I hadnt bought so much in the last few weeks -some still needing collection ,I'd find it a place!Pog -I use those saabs as tow cars. had both -turbo & non turbo and rate them pretty highly as disposable shite. They arent as well built -but are better to drive -in some aspects- and economically powerful too. Recommended.
