Flipping Nora, I don't think I've ever seen an Escort MK3 dizzler, especially of that vintage  . I've a little soft spot for these, as my parents had three 3drs in succession: a Y reg 1.1L (beige!), a B reg 1.3 base spec and a G reg 1.3 Bonus that I learnt to drive in.Nissan Prairies, I can remember when they were two a penny - I once had a ride in one and thought it was GR8  Mark.

That is utterly brilliant, now a diesel like that I would have - slow, clattery and basic! Looks lovely in white too.
I had no idea you could get a Ford denzel in Ghia spec during the 1980s, that Escort must be very rare. Although with age and wear a 1600 CVH petrol could be made to sound very diesel indeed.

I presume that one's been rear-ended at some point, or did they just use 'it fits where it touches' as the tolerance for build quality?

Yep, the fit and finish on mine was just as dire.

I'm 99% sure the rear lights are Series 1 BX, with an extra separate reflector below (which kept falling off on mine). European versions got first the VM turbo diesel lump and then later the Fiat SOFIM engine from the Turbo Daily (which is what mine had). US models all got a V8, naturally.

While we're nit-picking, the listing says 1597cc. The Ford 1.6D is 1608cc. Mister Bollocks wins his bet.

How about this, I wonder if it's the 3-speeder or whether it's lucky enough to be fitted with the CVT box.

Shitter of the week award has to go to this thing - the "La Forza".

Italian build quality, with a Ford V8 under the bonnet.

You win a gold star if you can tell what the tail lights came from...

looks like a fiat panda on steroids
Yeah. That's the mistake I made when I bought mine. I reckon it looks more like an Uno, but the small-Fiat-on-steroids look gave me a completely false impression of the size of the thing. In the flesh it makes a Range Rover look like a Daihatsu Terios - these things are fugging huge.

Measure the valve clearances before you scrap it. If the valve clearances are OK the chances are the engine will be fine with a new belt. My Escort TD slipped its belt and got away with it, if anything it went better afterwards.

have done, but I think its bent a valve........and nobody around here ahs any spare heads............so we bought a Micra to replace it
