OH FFS!!!!

I was hoping Wuvvum was gonna win it, get it home, get the welding done....Then decide it needs to go in order to finance the purchase of something else....Then pass it on to me! :(

If I had the means of transporting an un-tested car, I'd have been in there myself! :D

I can honestly see us all having to make shite spotting trips to the Emerald Isle in the none too distant future simply to see anything old & interesting! Have they got an anti old car MP they're trying to piss off or something? :|

Cars older than 20 or 25 years are road tax exempt - this is on a rolling basis, so is currently on 1982 or 1987.

Also those cars in this category need no MOT.

Besides, better a car going to Ireland to be used/looked after then being left in a garden to rot/getting banger raced IMO.

EBAY TWATS pulled my auction, because apparently it is 'circumventing eBay fees' to say that PayPal will only be accepted if the buyer pays the (3.1%) fees.

So, here's the Granada again:

Hopefully you'll bosh on again Pog, it was up to £490 (£110 less than reserve) with 6 bidders and 63 watchers before the Nazis whipped it off...

Because I normally sell car mags and stuff (which is usually bought by folk overseas) I have 'PayPal preferred' as a default setting. I tried to remove it but someone had already bid, so I couldn't change it - which is why I slipped the disclaimer in. Pain in the arse, as eBayers are probably wondering why it's relisted, and (wrongly) assuming the car's a dog, or something. Cavalier buyer paid Paypal (because I fell into the same trap - but didn't spot it) and I would have quite liked the £15 they took in fees for that

Unfortunately my buying account has been 'locked up'.... twatting eGay.Why?Because I and several others repeatedly bid a fake scam auction up to £9,999,999 so no innocents got suckered. Ebay won't pull clearly scammed listings (this one was ultra-lame, they'd flipped a load of pics of a LHD car to make it look RHD, shame the accelerator ended up on the wrong side!), but they will knob you off over £15 paypal, or using comparitive terms. Worst incidence of this was an old bike of mine my mum sold... Raleigh Commando, like a chopper. Exactly what is says on the tin. Apparently this is a breach of policy. ARSE NUGGETS.

eBay scamming bastards. One reason why I dont accept Paypal, at all evah, now. That and the fact that they took off me £130 for a phone that had been paid for into my account by a shonky credit card about a week after it was shipped. Bastards - buyer and selelr protection - my cock.

Another fave way for them to pull an auction is mention western union in any context (even "I dont accept...." or mention paying in cash as it "incites people to send cash through the post!" What??? Paying cash on collection for a fugging Citroen ZX????

Oh and thats another thing - I dont sell overseas, its just too much hassle and I cant be arsed - so why do ebay always insist on setting the "will ship to" option at worldwide, no matter ho many times I set it to UK only.

Cnuts.

I know that Ebay themselves are a pain, but I don't really understand this reluectance to pay anything to Pay Pal.PayPal provide a service - the transfer and storage of cash - and that has a certain value (convenience, security), and that value requires payment for it.Shops and other retailers have to pay a charge to Visa, Mastercard etc everytime you buy something from them using a credit or debit card. This is hidden from the customer, so I don't think people realise it happens. This is why some small independent shops won't take cheques/credit cards for small amounts.I don't understand all the 'thieving bastards' comments - is PayPal's customer service as not existant as Ebays?Paying devils advocate here, I guess!

In my case quite simply I took payment for a mobile phone, shipped same about 6 days later paypal without warning took the money from my account as the credit card turned out to be stolen. No amount of complaining did any good - I was one phone and £130 out of pocket as they themseleves would not stand the loss.Customer service is zero (remember paypal is owned by ebay). I understand your comments on fees - but find ebays ban on passing these fees on to the purchaser annoying. Many firms (Ikea being one) will charge you extra for using a credit card and pass the fees onto the customer for the convenience of paying for something on "tic". So why cant private sellers do the same on ebay?

To me it seems like a stitch up so that they can slap each other on the back for relieving us of our money & blocking any possible avenue for us to make back our losses! A complete conspiracy.....'they're going to have their cake & eat it, and there's no tolerance for crumbs to be dropped whatsoever!' :x I think the best way to play it is to only allow PayPal payments from foreigners, because A) it's more complicated for them to pay using other methods and B) they will often bid higher for things we sell as they have a distorted view of their worth or the items are hard to come by where they live, so you will make more than enough to cover your fees!

Agree - my argument was with eBay pulling the auction because I dared to mention I wouldn't actually take PayPal, because the fee mounts up when you sell something (hopefully) of that value. First time I've had one pulled and the timing was pretty lousy as the bids/watchers had built up nicely.I understand the costs related to an EFTPOS type system, and don't necessarily begrudge PayPal's fees - not changing my default setting was an oversight on my part and I just think eBay were a bit overzealous in pulling the auction because I stated 'no PayPal unless you pay the 3.1% fee' because I couldn't remove the option as the car had bids. Fact is, on a car that sells for (say £1,000), £30-odd PayPal fees on top of the £40 (£13 to list, £27 Final Value Fee) or so eBay fees is a pretty expensive way to sell a car. It still seems to be the best way to sell a classic (my interpretation), but for 'pure shite' the AutoTrader website at £8 for two weeks gets my vote these days.EDIT: Pog's back and bidding - good stuff! :D

Paypal - Can't find a person to speak to. Just fobbing-off generic returns to all enquiries like "why won't you let me access my own funds". Bastards - hate'em.

Anyway, bit of a bumper crop of these:
