I much prefer that style of R10, I assume it's the later style?

It's actually the first style (the restyle had the rectangular lights). Kind of fits the usual pattern of 'original is best'.

Apologies for hijacking the ebay thread with Renner chat.

CRIKEY!!! - R30 has been pulled.

Who made them an offer they couldn't refuse then - anyone here??

Mr.Bowker is NOT amused! :?

Is it as good as your R20 will be? £2000? Are you trying to make yourself feel better?......c'mon how much did you splash for your R20?

I paid half that for my R20....But that wasn't on Ebay, where the "competitive spirit" can get the better of some people! The condition of the cars (bearing in mind I haven't actually seen either!) looks to be quite similar, but my R20 is lower mileage....Bearing in mind who was going for it, I thoroughly expected the car to reach two-grand and beyond....If I had the money, and fuel consumption wasn't an issue, I'd pay that for a such a beautiful car, irrespective of whether "Practical Classics" deem it worthy of inclusion or not!

To me, it's not a classic car....Just an extremely DESIRABLE one, and people who aren't "in the know" (As is our own Mr.R18, who seems to be able to sniff out all the bargains!) will pay through the nose for summat like that....After all, they don't come up every day do they?

Just heard from Darren....The vendor ended early for £1500....BIG mistake....Darren was prepared to go CONSIDERABLY higher!

Is that the going rate for a good one of these? Perhaps you should cash in Tim! Or is it only worth that to the people who must have one? So does that mean any of the old rare overlooked cars of the 70s will make big money if the right people see it? I.e. my two? So if someone had for instance a mint Talbot Tagora, could they expect a windfall to come their way if they stuck it on the 'bay'? :o

I personally, would rob a bank to finance the purchase of such a beast! Guess it all boils down to what you like, and how much You want it, doesn't it?I imagine Mr.Ritmo, that Your R14 would cause a similar Ebay stir, should You ever choose to part with it! I think the popularity of the '70s French stuff is on the up!

Too right - I can't understand why the seller didn't put it on there for seven or ten days, if money was all they wanted.

It wasnt me

Shame - next time perhaps? Your 9-3 might be a collectible 30 year old cl*ssic by then though!

It was made in the Czech Republic, it's butt ugly (and therefore completely gorgeous) and 99% of the population wouldn't have a clue what it was if it roared past them - definitely shite.

Not ebay, but I spotted a black Montego Estate for sale on my way home tonight.I'm pretty sure the price was £185, not sure of any other details apart from the registration ending in"POG". If anyone wants further details, I'll take a closer look over the weekend.

well I got my uninspiring little lump of a Mazda 323 back from the coast yesterday and it really is a little diamond, it was only £50, Mot was supposed to be November but it's the 16th August and tax was supposed to be end of September but it's end of August, battery is totally dead but starts with a booster pack, filthy dirty but I spruced it, 95mph on the A12 and came with a full tank, a nippy little auto, love it! Flogging it asap though, I feel odd in it!

An update on the R30TX which appeared on Ebay very briefly last week....Apparently, it was bought by an Irish Renault dealer, who TURNED DOWN an offer of £3000 for it, the day after purchasing it!

Darren, the vendor of my R20, has been "In negotiations" with the Renault Dealer over the weekend, and has managed to secure the car for himself....I don't know what the final figure was, but suffice it to say my prediction of £2000 was WAAAAAYYYYYY conservative! This guy is ONE HELLUVA R30 enthusiast!

Another interesting fact, is that the Ebay car was supplied new by the same Nottingham Renault Dealership as my R20....Hopefully, there will a group photo or two eventually!

Does he know where it's going - to Ireland by any chance?

Surprise!I was invited to take my 30 to a Citroen meet in Farnham this weekend (I'll post pics later) and there were 3 R30s and a 20 there. The more I see of other 20s/30s, the more I...1) Appreciate the basic solididy of my old crate2) Realise just how good that ebay car is3) Regret passing up the chance of an (unMOT'd) one in Bristol a couple of years before I got mine (probably scrapped now).
