That blue and yellow R14 is back up again (in France though). Looks a bit of a long shot, but €15 might be a source of spares

Wow, what the hell have they done to that!? I'm liking the blue colour though - wish mine was a nice turquoise! (without the layers of crap though, you can keep that!)

Was it intended to be a banger racer or something?

It might have been a roaring commercial failure, but I bet Talbot made their money from licensing the rear light cluster design to BMW for their new 3-series.
Which 3-series is that, cos the normal saloon has angular shaped things sort of petal shaped?

Yes, they're like the Charmant, Carina, Solara/Alpine, Maserati Bi-Turbo, BMW 3-series E30 phase 1 rear lights......

How cool is that?!

Very! It'd certainly get you noticed...

OMG IT'S THAT THING!!! It lives right by where I work, I drive past it everyday and it's always fascinated me. It lives in a private yard that runs off from the long drive that takes me into the MOD base I work in. I only see the front quarter of it as it peeps round the corner. I assumed it was some kind of Dodge Winnebago thing, but actually I would love to know what the hell it really is!

I can possibly assist anyone if they're tempted by the monstrosity? I think Pog hit the nail on the head, it should be wallowing in a mud pool somewhere, making snorting noises & swinging it's exhaust pipe!

£4.99 seems to have been the starting price! I think the seller will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of interest (and consequent sale value) the car's generated, £599 as I type.

the car also has the 1960s & 70s after market honey comb number plates with 3D letters and GROOVY border.

I'm weeping for the glorious original raised plastic digit steel numberplates that this car 99.99% was fitted with until last week, now lying in a bin round the back of Halfords.

Maybe not this summer!!

Actually I broke a (very) rotten TS with the removable roof - and it worked pretty well and was quite swift - so provided you can see the rain coming it might be okay!

That car looks nice, but the price is creeping quite high considering it has no MOT. Why doesn't the guy get it tested? Seems quite mean spirited considering the high reserve?

Also - what's with the funny paint in front of both rear arches?

Both of these things combined with poor photos might put off potential bidders from going for a look. Pity.

They do rot there (strange double skin on the sill, perhaps someting to do with building it on the 12 floor??) and these look like repairs to me.Also rear bumper is crooked. Wouldn't bother me at the sort of prices I like to pay for cars, but with a reserve above the current £970 bid, I'd want to be reassured about things like that before bidding.Still a nice car though! 8)

I would probably have a punt on that Panda if I had the space. It would be good fun with a bit of TLC. A great tip chariot 8)8) You get the odd Panda pickup appear on the Bay and that's probably the best of them all. It's been on before a couple of years ago and was in Kent and had tax & MOT so it's all kosher on that front. Apparently, from what I remember of that auction, it was professionally commissioned by a race team to carry tyres and other gubbins round pitstops. It came on the Bay again about 6 months ago. The seller hadn't done much with it and it looks like this chap hasn't either.....

Unusual but not inconceivable - Mk4 came out in April '86, so could have been hanging around for 4 months before being registered - like all those '1983' Cortinas. And unlike an early Mk4, this one's probably decent on the rot front...

Yep, small numbers of around in the same way as you occasionally see mk2 Fiestas on the "G". I also saw a mk1 Sierra (Ghia estate I think) some years back on an E reg, but that's the ONLY one I've seen...

Yeah, having said that, there's a Mk4 Escy on a J going round Norwich so it can't be that unusual. I'd just never seen a D-plae Mk3 before - in fact I've hardly ever even seen a C-plater.

The J-plate mk4 is probably more uncommon given the launch date of the mk5, only a couple months after H came in?? On the other hand I believe they kept the Turbo going for a short while, but the only J-reg mk4 Escort I've seen was one of those 3-door estate panel van things they did.Definitely did see a G-reg mk5 Escort running around a couple of years ago! It appeared to be in a local (Edinburgh) re-registration series and was therefore probably a DVLA slip-up.

Speaking of which, AnthonyG very kindly gave me a load of old mags last week, one of which was Practical Motorist featuring a road test of the Mk5 'Tina (or Cortina 80, if you're pedantic) - on a T-plate. Never seen earlier than V-reg on the road. Same for the facelift Mk2 Granny - some test cars on a W-plate but only X onwards on the streets.
