We could try and look out for a Renner 30 or a Heuliez 604 to butcher! We could also transplant a 205 954cc into the 604! By the way does anybody want to buy a '83 924 (just needs a respray) all the mech done, a '76 Passat and a '89 320 Touring with a 325 engine? I want to buy this :http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/Opel/Ka ... .3/890314/I know it's expensive but... look at it..

Of the Sapporos there I think I prefer the Mk2, it was quite a good facelift that went a bit further than just sticking a more modern grille and bigger bumpers onto an obviously ‘70s car.

Funny, I don't always prefer the originals of vehicles although I often do, as in this case. I don't dislike the facelift Sapporo, indeed that's the first time I've seen one but the back just looks like the early 80s Lancer which I disliked for it's dull rear lights (big blocks of red with no reverse in the cluster). There's nothing wrong with the front end, it's a good looking vehicle in it's own right, but I don't believe it's better looking than the narrow front end of the original.

Really, really want to sample one of these.

Did these all have "GGC" registrations?

MANTA:

Whilst these are probably a bit 'cool' for Autoshite, I have included it because (a) it's a bit scratty, and (B) I'm fairly sure it will cause some excitement from the long-locked East Anglian datsun-loving correspondent.

Bloody hell, what a machine! Is it the elusive "1300 Base"? It hasn't got a grey grille though, do grey grille ones even exist anywhere outside of the brochure?Either way, a quality bit of kit.

Hey, don't write off the performance of that 1.3 Sierra, it's got a "high ratio back axle"!I think the chances of it turning into a half-arsed RS Cosworth replica are strong, but I dearly hope it doesn't. Surely they are old/rare enough now that the old Ford concours boys will get on it and spend a ludicrous amount restoring it. Then they can park up next to that original MK3 Cortina owner club and see how long it takes before they are firmly requested to leave.

I've seen a couple of grey grille Sierras on the road, but quite a long time ago. I don't think they made them for long.

What's the story with the droopy mirrors? I've seen very early ones with conventional mirrors, was it only the povo spec ones that got droopy mirrors?

The chances of that 1.3 being preserved in its current form are minimal. My guess is that it will be used to build a stock car. They like 3 door Sierras for some reason.
