I love the optimism people have selling old non-sports Kei cars for a few grand, as a 10 year old Kei-car is worth near enough nothing in Japan. Even with import fees and taxes you're really only looking at about a grand all-in!

That Vivio does absolutely nothing for me, why anyone would willing spend £1795 on a 12 year old none performance fugly micro hatch escapes me.It doesn't even have the appeal of say a Nissan Pao which at least looks character full and interesting enough to justify the money.

I can't read Vivio without thinking genitalia  That apart, I love some of the Kei Cars, Honda Beat, Daihatsu Copen and that funny bug-eyed Mazda (can't remember its name)Does that Vivio not have the same sort of power as the other little hotties, eg Cappuccino?

Maybe, but so does a Fiesta Popular Plus, doesn't make it fun to drive

I had a Cappuccino 10 years ago, it was a real hoot but mainly because of the handling and 8000rpm limit

Not in scum-spec version, but the Subaru Vivio RX-R is a different beast and matches up with the turbo ones.

Unusual amongst Kei-cars in that it has a supercharger rather than a turbo. I'd love to race one in my TR-XX, think it'd be close.

Doesn't that apply generally as a rule for most Japanese Imports??? I mean I'm still amazed at how much money ropey Estima's, Pajero's and Eunos Roadsters go for. There must be more around here than in Osaka. Some people are obviously making money out of it somewhere, I doubt somehow that I could make my fortune selling ropey Montego's, Ex-Fleet Vectra's and Ford Galaxy's to people in Japan.

Theres hundreds of the bastards down here; I live near Tilbury dock, and theres a garage actually inside the docks, they roll 'em off the boat, stick UK plates on then punt them off at a profit to the inbreds, cretins and twats who live hereabouts. I would reckon that at least 75% of the Previas, Shoguns and Space Cruisers round here have "square number plate " syndrome. My next door neighbours got a Diesel SpaceCruiser (which I may have to photograph for it's shiteness...)

Not far off, but where a tatty Hilux Surf could attract some coinage due to export demand, a 10-15 year old Kei-car can go for almost nothing (if it sells at all). It seems regardless of condition, no one really wants them. I reckon by that stage most of them don't even see the auctions and end up in the crusher doing their best OXO impression. However, it seems occasionally someone will see one of these worthless motors in one of their more weird-looking specifications (usually the faux-classic stuff like that Subaru Vivio Bistro, or something a bit strange in appearance like a Daihatsu Opti) and snap it up for £200, punt it on a boat and stick it up for sale here for £3000-ish. Presumably then it gets bought by someone who wanted something "a bit like a Figaro" and doesn't really know that they could cheaply import one themselves for peanuts.

Sorry to go back Hirst, but I love these...

...the Subaru Vivio RX-R is a different beast...

...please confirm to me that there was a Vivio RX-R with a Cappuccino-style body and targa roof :?:

Or was that just in my dreams?

That is one of the worst looking cars i have ever seen.

Its amazing how the test of time ravages some cars. You look at KITT these days and he is shite, whereas the A-teams van still looks fuckin A (in GREY red and black, not black and red).

In all fairness its all a question of taste. For instance i hate the looks of the Clan Crusader, but i have mates who love it.
